It would be nice to have had a proper shower cubicle rather than a bath and shower attachment.

The Balkan Lodge would only claim to be "cheap and cheerful", offering a basic level of service for what is (for Oxford) a low cost. As such, the facilities were basic, but clean and attractive. The manager was also very friendly and helpful. Not somewhere you would spend a holiday, but perfect for the solo traveller if they are just staying a night or two. Also, less than half an hour's walk from the town centre. I would definitely stay there again if I were making a short visit to Oxford.

Host very helpful, answered pre-arrival question very promptly allowed me to lark there either side of my stay which was super helpful and really appreciated. The room had everything I needed after a long day and the bed was super comfortable

wish breakfast was back as an option. had to go out to eat. my room was near the street and with the windows open the noise was more than i expected. overall a good stay, though, and i would stay again.

room was clean and airy. tea kettle came in quite handy. liked the small feel of the lodge. very comfortable.

The room was as promised, and the location was great, but as someone who is on a long trip, solo, it was the delightful John on the front desk who made this a great experience for me. He was warm, friendly and funny - a good welcome after a long and somewhat arduous trip.

Owner was very helpful with directions and even contacted me after I had left the property to let me know that I had inadvertently left my car headlights on. Comfortable bed, water, coffee and biscuits provided. Clean and tidy.

The en suite (room 2) was very tight and required some contortions to sit on the toilet. Otherwise clean and fresh.

Stayed 2 nights midweek end of June. John on the desk was very helpful with suggestions of possible things to see, and his recommended pub down the road was ideal for me! The room and hotel were very clean and well-maintained. Would visit again.

Great location and lovely room. parking at rear and a short walk to the river for a relaxing drink in the sunshine. We took the bus in to the centre as it was a hot day but could have walked it easily. lovely room and facilities. The host / owner is such a gent too.

Being a light sleeper the curtains let in too much light early morning maybe blackout curtains would be better. Bed was a bit uncomfortable, perhaps needs a refresh with a new mattress.

Good property to stay at whilst visiting Oxford. Situated on a main bus route into the centre, plus a good car park if visiting by car. Owner is very friendly and helpful with local knowledge.

It's a long walk to the main attractions and High Street. The bathroom wasn't the biggest. The lack of a breakfast was a shame but I already knew that upon booking. There is however a cafe 'Silvie' almost next door which serves breakfast Fri - Sun. It's quite pricey though, they even charge for the orange juice with your food.

I liked the parking on site. The helpful and polite gentleman John on the front desk. The clean and tidy room. And for a large building the whole interior was modern, well decorated and spotlessly clean including the downstairs toilet and lobby.
