Very small bedroom for a double and bed was very small and no room for suitcase. Lifts old and small.

    Central location. Traditional values.

For someone seeking a city centre location convenient to the railway station it is hard to fault.

The breakfast buffet does rather lack any imagination but it does provide the standard basics.

The hotel is centrally located and has its own on site car park which is handy. It is an historic hotel which clearly needs a fortune spending on it to bring it up to modern standards but it retains its character and charm and the staff are very helpful. As long as you are not looking for 4* accommodation you will not be disappointed. The rooms are basic but comfortable and larger than most more modern hotels provide. Moreover the relatively recently installed pool is a fine addition.

The hotel is tired and in desperate need of refurbishment inside. The decor is old fashioned for my taste, and whilst I appreciate that may be in keeping with the Edwardian exterior, it wouldn’t hurt to update some facilities such as modernising the showers and bedroom furniture to add a little more luxury to the stay. The main reception area is very grand but the annex to the hotel where our room was shabby and dull. Room overlooked the carpark, which was what it was, but it would have been nice to have a better view. On the carpark, it’s very limited in spaces for guests and very hard to find. Could be signposted better.

Perfect location right in the heart of the city centre. Very impressive building from the outside.

Grand old fashioned hotel which has been sympathetically modernised. Breakfast excellent and filling with good options. Helpful and welcoming staff.

Though the hotel was described as dog friendly, for which a charge is made, they were not allowed in the dining or breakfast room! Either you are dog friendly or you’re not! Coffee at breakfast was like dishwasher!

Good central location in Carlisle, but looking tired at the edges. Dog friendly bedrooms. Our small double was a suitable description but perfectly adequate for a two night stay. Bathroom had a good shower over the bath and the bed comfortable. A decent breakfast was served with a good range of cooked items at the buffet.

Room was quite small and rather dated. Right next to the lift which was a little noisy at times. As usual we had a room at the back of the hotel with a view of the drainpipes

The location was excellent, very central for transport and amenities. We stayed during the week so fairly quiet though weekends might be noisy on the main square. Decent breakfast. There 8s a swimming pool though we didn't use it

The decor of the hotel was very tired, especially noted a very torn, worn carpet at the doorway to a meeting room. I hope they weren't holding a Health and Safety conference in there🤣 An "old lady" trying very hard to hang on to the elegance of her youth

Central location and excellent helpful staff. The overnight car charging was an absolute bonus Loved the elegance of a bygone era
