Arguably Carlisles finest historical hotel - stayed here a few times in the past. I get a budget room only and just sleep there. I've always been happy with the hotel and staff.

The hotel would have been absolutely stunning in its prime, there are a few wee bits of peeling paintwork that will need renovating soon.

Great location, couldn't be better! Comfy beds, large spacious room with well stocked tea tray and toiletries in the bathroom too. Nicely cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. We had a great stay.

Shower only Luke warm, not hot which was disappointing otherwise would have given 10/10 for our stay

Nice central location and only a 5 min walk from our intended venue we were visiting. Friendly and helpful staff. First room had a terrible draught coming through the sash windows. Reception staff changed us to a different room as soon as we mentioned it thank you. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice.

Me and my husband stay here regularly when we're out in Carlisle. We love the laid back atmosphere and it is our place to rejuvenate after a long week at work. Love the pool and hot tub.

The corridors were very warm as the heating seemed to be up high, but it was a cold night! We ate in the bar which is beautiful, but food is a little overpriced for what you get. Tasted great though.

Fantastic hotel in a great location. We had to travel with our dogs but we're made to feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Staff were fantastic and really made our stay. All in all, would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the area and we'll definitely be back soon.

A few members of staff were rude to other party’s of the group. Cat calling the girls of the group. How thin the walls were- Two rooms opposite us were extremely noisy and banging the doors and being disrespectful (we had more than 1 room booked and one of our rooms was downstairs from our room and they also heard the banging and noisy occupants - the staff handled the situation when reception had to be phoned. Baring in mind this carried on until roughly 4:30am. Booking.com doesn’t state that the car park at the rear of property is a first come first served basis. So when we arrived we got to the hotel car park and the staff member at the gate just told us its full and to go elsewhere wasn’t very accommodating.

Rooms were comfortable and accommodating. Shower was amazing, bar was reasonably priced, most of the staff were lovely.

There was no tv remote in my room, so i couldn't watch anything. I had a long wait for my cooked breakfast, and it was over cooked when i got it.

Location was great, room was comfortable, good secure parking the bar was tops for catching up and relaxing after a day’s travelling or exploring. A unexpected gem on our trip.

Nothing we loved it

Lovely feeling to a charming hotel- we went in winter and the rooms were lovely and warm. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful. We used the hot tub and pool facilities which were small but that didn’t take anything away from our stay.
