How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Separate toilet and shower was a small inconvenience. No place to put own toilet items or bag when in shower room. Coffee was poor.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Very convenient. Had parking.

Shower room radiator not working.

Noisy doors from other rooms. Firm pillows. No caffeine free hot drink options in room ( apart from chocolate… chocolate allergy do couldn’t have that)

Nothing really. If I have to suggest some improvement, I would have preferred a firmer bed.
The property is very well connected with the train station with a few direct buses. There are plenty of supermarkets, takeaways and restaurants in the surrounding. My room and the bathroom were very spacious and had everything I might have needed. The staff was very helpful (had to change the date of the booking and were understanding) and friendly. I found the quality of the room perfect for the price, compared to other guest rooms I have been in Oxford.

I always complain about the complicated television! I want a simple on and off switch and programmes dial on the remote control...not fussy Sky box to operate as well!
I do not take breakfast, but the tea, coffee, chocolate, milk, biscuits in the room are generous, as are the toiletries.

The only downside was that the walls seemed a little thin and there was a lot of noise from next door (nothing excessive but I could hear their TV very clearly). The chair legs on the chair were also quite wobbly. But I am nitpicking there.
Wonderful little guest house with a very warm welcome from Julie upon arrival. I was attending an event at the university and it was perfectly located for this purpose. It was on the direct bus route to Heathrow which is handy for international travellers also. The room was well-appointed, clean and well decorated with a spotless ensuite bathroom with toiletries. The rooms are also equipped with Sky Digital which was handy to watch the golf.

It was very hot in the room so had to keep the window open at night (February) which meant it was a bit noisy
Convenient to walk or get a bus into city (20-30 mins walk); good for parking; clean rooms; can come and go with ease

Very well situated for Oxford Brooke’s University and easy to get into the centre of town with the bus stop literally opposite. A few good shops nearby and a couple of nice pubs/restaurants within walking distance for an evening meal.

I couldn't get the TV to work. It was late when I arrived, so this didn't matter to me, but worth sorting for the next guest.
We received a very warm welcome. Large spacious bedroom and very comfortable bed. Clean with coffee machine, kettle, fridge etc.. Lovely warm shower with good pressure

Nothing really, bed and pillows a little firm
Room fine, given a different room on the ground floor which was good. We had to have a buffet breakfast as having to be out before breakfast, that was adequate. We have stayed here before, room much better than the first time we stayed. A very handy guest house for both eating out and for the John Radcliffe hospital, minutes walk away and very grateful we could leave our car in the morning.
