Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was very small and parts of the hotel are a little rough around the edges, they need to get the paint brushes out!
The hotel is set in beautiful peaceful grounds, plenty of parking and we had a walk around the gardens too. We have nothing but praise for the staff, make sure you keep them! The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere though the food is basic pub fare there was enough for veggies and reasonably priced.

United StatesThe property is a little past its prime. A facelift and upgrade would not be amiss.
Comfortable bed, lots of hot water for the bath and shower, good location for visiting attractions, great wait staff (especially Tyler who was helpful all three days). The scones served with the cream tea were warm and freshly made.

United KingdomThe rooms are dated and a bit small but for a few nights stay it is fine.
This hotel has character, if you have time, the grounds are beautiful and well worth a walk. The price wasn’t as extortionate at the Premier Inn.

United KingdomI can't think of anything I didn't like.
The room was massive, with a really comfy bed and fridge which was great. Lovely bathroom, very clean. The hotel itself if really nice, gorgeous grounds to explore. We had a really nice dinner in the restaurant where the staff were friendly and attentive.

United KingdomIt was a bit tired. Lights by the bed didn’t work. No light bulb in lamp on dressing table. Cracked sink in the bathroom. Greeting by receptionist, poor. Meghan at breakfast was doing the whole service by herself. Greeting, serving, filling hot food etc on buffet. Cleaning tables. Required more help. Senior management walked through service and didn’t help. Other guests commented on this also.
It was clean, large room. Great service by Sam at dinner. Fantastic service by Meghan at breakfast.

United KingdomThere were some technical issues with our room that probably couldn't have been foreseen but the duty manager the next morning went out of her way to transfer us to an alternative room.
Ease of access; rural location close to urban facilities; great size rooms; good breakfast. Room only option.

United KingdomBooked executive room ( my 3rd stay in these level off rooms) tv only worked on BBC channels. Had same issue in November. For a premium room would expect fully working TV on all channels. Did suggest to staff maybe time to install a smart TV in these rooms with all channels working and option to use apps. Hope this was passed on to owners to address this issue.
So comfortable, relaxing and set in amazing grounds. Staff very helpful upon check in. Hotel offers great value for money and hope to stay in warmer months to enjoy a walk around the lake next door.

United KingdomThe price of drinks was a bit high. The biggest problem was the breakfast. The food was okay and the price of the full breakfast was a bit high. The main problem is most people do not want a full breakfast. There should be options, such as egg on toast or some smaller options at a reasonable price.
Staff. The price of the Room. The evening meals/Restaurent.

United KingdomOrdered room service which wasn't available until 9.30pm which I found a bit late, the pizza was not very hot in the middle and the chicken curry although fairly tasty did not look very appetising due to the chicken itself looking rather grey, which worried me slightly so I didn't finish it, but I was ok the next day. When we checked out the lady didn't ask us if we had a pleasant stay, how our room was, or about the food and service, just told us how much we owed which seemed odd, surely you want to know if your guests had a good time or not..
The room was a fantastic size with a great view. We had a large sofa for relaxing on and plenty of space to store our belongings. The bed was so comfortable so we slept very well each night and the shower was fab, turned both the large and small shower heads on at the same time which was bliss, and the corner bath was wonderful and used both nights. The restaurant was lovely and the food was spot on, plenty of breakfast choices too. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the conservatory, the sandwiches were so fresh and the scones were still warm. We went for a walk around the lake but it was very muddy so we had to turn back but next time we will be prepared with the right footwear. We had a lovely young lady called Skie serve us in the restaurant who was very pleasant and helpful and another young lady at the afternoon tea whose name I can't recall. We had a lovely relaxing stay and we definitely be coming back.
