Clean hotel, good food, friendly staff. Little over-priced given the hotel is somewhat tired but assume you are paying for the location

The staff were having to help out in different departments and seemed under pressure - although they were very professional and competent it was impossible for them to be in two places at once which seemed to be what was demanded of them which meant having to stand around waiting to be served.

I have stayed here a few times and it’s just starting to show its age in a few areas, it could do with a small programme of refurbishment. Another point to note is that if you stay half board, the meal allowance is 26 pounds per person so you may have to supplement a few items, it wasn’t a problem for me but I can see this catching some people out

Friendly staff, great location and food

Feels a bit tired. Smell from the kitchen Those wonderful lounges need reinvigorating. Lovely staff at breakfast but training urgently needed I was sat at a table that was not laid and had coffee and my breakfast served without cup saucer and utensils You usually need to ask twice for items As said staff are so willing it’s a training leadership issue

    Beautiful location and building

I didn’t like sharing the space with dogs- barking in corridor near my bedroom and next to me at breakfast. Could they be moved to a dogs only area?

    Lovely Views, Lackluster Communication

Upon checking in, the staff only provided us with the room number without offering directions to the stairs or lift - In fact, another guest at the hotel ended up pointing out the location of the lift. Additionally, the absence of a pool, which had recently closed down, was not communicated to us beforehand or during check-in. Basic information such as breakfast hours and check-out times were not provided, a service standard even the most basic hotels usually excel at. As well as this, the member of staff did not smile or show any enthusiasm. Furthermore, there was a lack of communication regarding the location of the bar. There are signs for a bar adjacent to the front desk, however we were told the day after that this was now unstaffed. The primary bar is actually situated past the restaurant area, a detail which again was not provided to us. Despite attempting to inquire about the location of the bar in the evening, we were unable to find a staff member at the front desk for at least 20 minutes. Consequently, we opted to go for a drink elsewhere. Improved signage and guest communication would greatly improve the overall experience. As for breakfast, (which ends at 10am incase they don't say), the full English breakfast was notably small and failed to justify its cost.

The room was clean, bright and comfy. The location was great, with some spectacular views nearby.

We felt that some of the main meal options would be more suitably described as ‘bar meals’ and priced accordingly Pool area was closed

The menu on offer did provide a limited choice for a vegetarian diet. The breakfast arrangement for cereals etc., could, perhaps, be arranged in a different manner to make accessibility easier.

We had a delightful stay in the Wordsworth hotel in Grasmere. We were very pleased, on arrival, to receive an upgrade to our room, which was comfortable and recently modernised. Very adequate tea and coffee making facilities were provided. All the staff provided friendly and helpful service.

There was a mix-up with the price of the stay, but this was quickly and amicably resolved. There was an issue with the room too; but again, the staff dealt with it quickly and professionally. It's a shame the swimming pool is now closed, but we understand why.

The amount of lounge rooms available for guests to relax in was particularly impressive - we particularly liked the one with the fire next to the main door! The breakfast was good too. The room we ended up in on the second floor was very impressive.

It’s sad that the leisure centre & spa are now closed. There was less variety in the evening meal menu than on our previous 4 visits and it’s a shame drinks have to be ordered at the bar and carried through to the lounge rather than served direct!

We enjoyed our stay & grateful for the room upgrade. The staff were brilliant & helped whenever we had a query!
