It was a really cozy, cute and personal hotel. The location was as central as can be, but not too crowded. My friend and I were honestly surprised by the kindness and hospitality that was offered by our host Luka and the driver Bože. The breakfast that was served was a homemade 3 courses meal, that even came with mimosas!! 10/10 for these guys.

The bedroom was in the loft but the bathroom was downstairs. That was a little inconvenient.

The room is a tiny bit small, but this didn't matter to us given we spend minimal time in our room when on holiday!

Mario and Luka were great hosts - greeting us from the pick up point, sharing a bit about Split's history, helping with ferry tickets and booking restaurants on our behalf! The rooms themselves are very comfortable and clean. The food is delicious both at breakfast and in the restaurant for dinner.

A lovely hotel that is well located. The hosts were most helpful with one of us that was on crutches. They went over and above to make our stay so enjoyable. Great to have a proper powerful hairdryer. The breakfast was amazing, 3 courses - who doesn’t love desert at breakfast time!

Everything about this property was fantastic! The room itself was clean, comfortable and stylish, the location was absolutely perfect (right in old town outside of the palace walls and walking distance to all boats/ferries) and the customer service was literally THE BEST I have ever experienced. The Makarun crew were all so kind, communicative and accommodating. Their breakfast was delicious too! 10000/10 I would recommend anyone coming to Split to stay here

The hot water can run out for anything other than a short shower, but nothing more can be done to rectify that because of the historical nature of the property, however, it was updated with USB connections.

Great location. Clean and comfortable. Included a delicious and satisfying 3-course breakfast, plus a historical information back 600 years by the manager of the restaurant and hotel. The owner, manager, and staff were all enthusiastic and helpful.

I have never seen hosts go beyond expectations like this. Mario and Luka were exceptional in their generosity of time given to meet, help us with bags (actually wouldn’t allow us to carry anything) and deliver us to our next destination and we were only there one night! Thank you Mario and Luka for making our first visit to Croatia so welcoming, comfortable and we want to come back

Bath linens could perhaps be one level higher quality. A very minor quibble and perhaps unfair as given the quality of the hospitality exceeds any Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons I’ve stayed so perhaps I was expecting the towels to also match

Great location, just steps from the Split Riva. This small (only 5 rooms) boutique hotel is newly renovated so the rooms have all modern amenities and very cold AC which is nice.

All was fantastic. Only small suggestion would to vary the breakfast. It is amazing food but if people are staying a few days it would be good to have variety. We liked to change the order of the courses (yes, multiple courses for breakfast) just for fun ;-)

Fantastic stay. We were made to feel so welcome. Team organised parking and cycled our bags to hotel. Guided walk was a lovely touch. Went out their way to assist i.e. found and acquired a Split rugby shirt for our son. We had the top room which is quirky, but we liked it, especially the mini balcony. Being so central is the key aspect. Enjoyed Split more than Dubrovnik and this hotel was one of the reasons.

Marco and Luka went over and above the call of duty to make their hotel/restaurant one of the best place I have ever stayed in…from the well organized pickup at their private parking to the staff helping us back there, the top notch breakfast and the excellent restaurant, everything was really good. I could not provide a higher recommendation to stay at this property! The care and attention to customer service is second to none. Mario and Luka were so attentive to our needs. The included breakfast was outstanding, and in and of itself felt like we were dining at a fancy restaurant, with everyone lovingly made in-house. The provided tour also makes booking this property a no brainer. I would highly recommend and will definitely book this property again for any future visits to Split!

Wonderful welcome, hospitality. Amazing breakfast, as vegan and vegetarians we were very well catered for. The rooms are very comfortable, beautifully decorated and have all that you are going to need. Luka and Mario were excellent hosts, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and gave us good recommendations for the area. The hotel is in a good location. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We will definitely return and I will be recommending this hidden gem to anyone coming to Split.

Absolutely nothing!

We stayed at Makarun Heritage Rooms for two nights and absolutely loved our stay!! The hosts Mario and Luka are just extraordinary!! The location was perfect, the room was sparkling clean, very nice and modern, the bed was super comfy, the breakfast was absolutely delicious, served to order, and perfectly presented. Everything was the highest quality, to the smallest details. We reserved a parking spot since there are no cars allowed in the Old Town. Luka was waiting for us at the parking lot together with his colleague who took all our luggage to our room on a cargo bike. On our short walk to the hotel Luka gave us a brief introduction of Split. He is so warm and welcoming. He also gave us personal recommendations for restaurants and things to do in Split. We met Mario the next morning at the breakfast, and he is amazing. After breakfast he gave us an unforgettable tour of the Diocletian Palace with some personal touches - he has 600-year roots in Split! At the end of our stay we had a ferry to catch early in the morning, so they packed a breakfast for us, and their colleague was waiting for us at 7:30 am to take our luggage to the parking lot. Amazing experience, perfect in every way! Unmatched hospitality and unforgettable memories of Split!

We had an incredible stay at Makarun Heritage Rooms in Split. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our visit was memorable. A special shout-out to Mario, who provided a fantastic private tour, giving us an in-depth look at the beautiful city of Split. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience truly unforgettable. Luka was another star of our trip. He met us at the bus station, guiding us to the hotel. He also took care of our dinner plans, calling and reserving tables at the restaurants we wanted to try. His local recommendations were spot-on, making our dining experiences delightful. On our last day, we had an early departure and would have missed breakfast. To our pleasant surprise, the Luka and Mario prepared a take-away breakfast for us, ensuring we had something to eat during our journey. This thoughtful gesture truly reflected the friendly, kind, and super accommodating nature of the team. Overall, I can't recommend this Makarun enough for its excellent service and the warmth of its staff. If you're visiting Split, this is the place to stay!
