The apartment needs a little bit of updating. There was a smell coming from the ensuite shower and the water tank was very noisy.

The apartment was in walking distance for places to eat and the shops. There was also parking for the apartment.

It was noisy early in the mornings with the cleaners. I also find 11am check out very early if you had a few drinks the night before. 12pm would be much better.

The location was ideal for me and great to explore the town. The staff were very friendly. The room met all my needs.

We didn't have breakfast, but the location was brilliant, right in the heart of Athlone, beside everything shops, bars, restaurants, shopping centres, there was a lovely pub across the road from the B & B called the Dark Horse that I couldn't recommend more for food.

Checking in was a bit rushed as I arrived at 9pm but the property has check in until 10pm. The walls are very thin and when closing doors it makes a lot of noise.

Very clean accommodation, every day the room was cleaned and all the accessories reimbursed. Great location in town.

Towels were removed to wash when they were not used except one day. Road signs from train station to B&B very clear. Road signs to out side town clear. Town signs were small & not very clear.

Breakfast options adequate for me. I liked the light removing shades & were the thin rope for closing was well done so if a child was in the room it would be safe. The roof light was good to provide more light.

The parking lot is tiny and reverse parking was a little bit of a struggle. I could easily see how a bad driver could scratch a lot of vehicles in the process. I would have liked a bath mat so when I exited the shower, I wouldn’t drip water everywhere. The walls are pretty thin but luckily our neighbors were quiet.

The heating came on at night and we had to have the windows open, with being across from a bar it was sometimes quite noisy.

Staff were really friendly and accomodating. Rooms were spacious and clean. Beds were really comfortable.

The room was a little cramped, as we had large cases.......however, this was our fault as we chose to have a king size bed which reduced floor space.

We had an issue with the hot water not working in one of the bathrooms. Also, the included washer/dryer was a combined washer/dryer that was disappointingly inefficient. It took about 4 hours for one small load of laundry to dry. We ended up having to walk to an outdoor laundromat to do the rest of our party's laundry. I specifically rented this room for the included laundry, so if you're looking for that, just be aware you'll need a full day to take advantage of it.

We parked near the main office, but the apartment was a little ways down the street. Everything was still very walkable, so not an issue. The rooms were spacious and there were two separate bathrooms. Rooms were nice and clean.

A very bright light on the property sign out the front that was shining right at my window that was a little annoying. I generally don’t have trouble sleeping but for people that like dark rooms they would have struggled or make sure to ask for a room at the back.

There was a humming sound possibly a fan either nextdoor or just outside. .some info in room on wifi access or local area would have been a bonus but thats more a suggestion than a dislike!.

Helpful mgmt. Very welcoming. Lovely fresh clean room and ensuite. Nice modern decor. Comfortable bed. Plenty tea/coffee. Location is so central to town center and parking outside the door. House felt very secure. I was arriving late and this did not pose any problem. I would definately stay again.

Check in experience was bad. I understand that it's a small business and the staff don't want to wait around for guests to arrive but if your check in times are clearly defined on booking.com (3pm to 10pm), I didn't know we needed to inform you precisely what time we will arrive. So on the afternoon of check in I received a phone call which nobody on holidays likes to receive - "what time are you checking in?". When you're on a road trip with a family of 5, trying to enjoy yourself without worry, last thing on your mind is to think about precise check in time especially given how hard it is to predict how long it will take to visit attractions on the way etc. We were struggling with reception on the way too which stressed me out but I finally managed to notify them about the arrival time through booking.com message later in the evening. Although admittedly we were 15 minutes late, the check in was very rushed and we didn't feel too welcome. I had to quickly follow the man to the apartment block which was a minute or two walk away from the B&B premises where we parked our car. Rest of the gang had to stay behind unloading the car cause of all the rush. I was led to the building main door, given the keys and bye bye, go up the stairs and left. I wanted to ask about dining options in the area but when Supermacs was suggested for breakfast I gave up. You'd expect to be shown to the apartment and for the staff to make themselves available to answer potential questions and instead I felt like we were an inconvenience that had to be dealt with asap. For example the front door zapper needs to be placed in a specific way on the reader which I was not told about and for a moment I thought it wasn't working after the man left. Thankfully there was a kind person coming in who showed me how to do it. Not a good start of a stay when all you want is to be able to relax a bit and feel welcome.

Note that this is a review of the apartment in a separate, residential building 130 meters up the road and NOT in the main Arch House B&B building. The apartment offered good comfort of stay, lots of space and great value for money for our group of 5. The location was good too, close to restaurants and cafes. The kitchen was well equipped so we could make some breakfast before departing in the morning. Check in and check out were quick. Very quick. We liked how private the apartment was with seemingly no neighbours so we could chat away in the evening knowing that we won't disturb anyone. Good value too.

A warning that the parking is extremely limited and very difficult to maneuver in would be very appreciated. Car park is EXTREMELY tight.
