Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt was all great, I have no complaints whatsoever.
Mary and Robert are fantastic hosts and they have created a very special, welcoming place. The shepherds' huts are cosy and comfortable, the garden a verdant haven and the breakfast was simply delicious. I hope to return soon to explore the area and nature trails more fully.

CanadaThis was one of my favourite places I have ever stayed. The rural property was beautiful and serene. I enjoyed the evening sitting outside of "the barn". Mary was so friendly and welcoming. The huts themselves were cozy and nicely decorated. I had a great sleep because it was so peaceful. The breakfast in the morning had lots of fresh and homemade products and was delicious.

AustraliaEverything was great. You have to share bathrooms but this is clear when you book and the bathrooms were clean.

It was very comfortable and the hostess was super. We had great accommodations and excellent breakfasts and on our last morning, the hostess brought us some fresh honeycomb from her own bees which was very special.

IrelandI'd have like to have had a set bathroom to use as there were 3 water rooms and unfortunately another guest didn't believe in flushing the toilet after themselves.
The host Mary was absolutely amazing, incredibly friendly and polite. She made a fantastic breakfast each morning and was very welcoming.

IrelandI wouldn't change anything.
The Blackstairs Shepherds hut is more than a place to stay, it is something to be experienced, a lovely tranquil environment surrounded by nature. We loved the beautiful gardens and meadow , and towering old oak and beech trees. On the second evening , the sun came out , so we sat in the patio area, lit the barbecue with hardwood twigs and branches kindly provided by Robert , and we were in heaven . The breakfast laid out each morning was perfect , we couldn't ask for more. Robert is a great host. He stopped by each morning and evening for a chat which we thoroughly enjoyed. He was very informative about the surrounding area and about the activities in the Blackstairs eco centre.

United KingdomNothing. It was all even better than expected although. If I have to find a slight negative it has to be the shared bathroom but you can’t expect private facilities in this type of eco- environment.
Its location, the welcome and the breakfasts. Its charging point for our hybrid car. Its setting in the Blackstairs Mountains

i can’t say enough good about this wonderful wonderful idyll. from the moment we arrived, our hosts, Mary & Robert were so warm in their welcoming, efficient communicators, and full of useful information about the area. the hut itself was so cosy and nicely appointed with rugs and a snuggly down duvet, and the common area was super as well. the kitchen was perfect for making a delicious breakfast with fresh eggs, fresh herbs from the garden, and nice coffee. The communal atmosphere too made for a very friendly opportunity to meet other people, and generally have a relaxed and convivial time shared. a the bird song!
