Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandThe room was very cold with a draft had to sleep with cloths on and the shower had less flow than a dripping tap.
The staff were great and location was very central.

United States of AmericaThis building would be REALLY tough for anyone who had mobility issues. I counted 9 sets of stairs and 7 turns between the carpark and my room (in the 30's) The water pressure was bad... like only a trickle from the shower. It wasn't a deal breaker for me but I sure didn't like it.
The location in town was great and the staff was friendly; the building had a certain charm for me, but it wouldn't for many. *To find the car park: Use GPS/Waze to go to Trade Electric on Lower New Street. The entrance is just to the left of Trade Electric, that is the only way I could find it.

IrelandI have stayed here previously and the rooms in the oldest period part of the property hold their age well but the “newer” room in extension at the rear did seem dated and in need of a spruce up. At the price though you can’t complain.
Great location, right in the centre of town. Free parking is also a huge bonus. Breakfast was nice and the staff member serving(leticia) was very friendly and courteous, a real asset to the hotel.

IrelandRooms were small, bathroom old fashioned. Breakfast was traditional and hearty but service could have been better. Accessing a table for lunch and dinner surprisingly difficult, the bar is popular with locals at the weekend. Service generally satisfactory, far from exemplary.
Location was excellent, based in Kilkenny city centre, close to Castle, big bars etc. The room was pleasant, small, guest house style not hotel style. Met our expectations. Breakfast was satisfactory, guest house style, not hotel, and delivered to our table after a couple of prompts. Things like cold toast and slow to refill coffee detracted from the overall experience. However, based on the overall high price of Kilkenny accommodation and the overall difficultly in finding decent accommodation in Kilkenny I would stay here again if the price was right.

IrelandDidt feel much of a valentines vibe , its the little touch like chocolates or little flower in the room , that makes it special. Even a valentines menu would of been nice . Few balloons . Again its the little things that makes it special.

IrelandBathroom a bit grubby, did not have a great clean before we arrived (there were some fake eyelashes left on the vanity unit). Car park is not very clearly signed from the road - difficult to spot. Bed was a little soft for my liking but that's personal preference. Rate was a little saucy for a 2 star hotel.
Very central location for Kilkenny, close to shops, bars & tourist attractions. Rooms were what I expected for a 2 star hotel, relatively clean bedroom, a bit dated but otherwise ok. Breakfast was perfect and staff were very friendly/helpful.
