Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IndiaDidn't find too many of these, but even then I did think a couple of things could be better. For starters, the bar menu seems to be a little over the top. Not too much but there's scope for some rationalisation. For example, INR 350 for a pint of Kingfisher Ultra seemed a bit much to be honest. Even the cocktails don't go below INR 850 apiece. Perhaps some rationalisation might encourage more visitors to the bar. The bedroom we were in, on the first floor, is incredibly large. However I would have placed at least one of the ACs closer to the bed itself (even directly on the bed perhaps) because in the afternoons it takes a while for the room to cool down. The other thing I would have expected are switches closer to the bed. Currently, one has to get off the bed and walk across the room to get to the switches. While the toilet kit is great (by Kama), I had expected a couple of pairs of slippers (if not a bathrobe). Also, and this is not unique to this property, I believe that there should be at least 4 satchets of coffee in the room. Especially in view of the amount of choice tea drinkers seem to get. The final thing that I can think of is that currently the zamindari thali has a default option of basmati rice. If authenticity of experience is a thing that we are buying into then perhaps it would be prudent to include Gobindo Bhog rice (which is a bengali premium rice variety) should at least be an option on the menu. Four centuries ago, the Raja of Bawali would have been having Gobindo Bhog and not long grain Basmati.
We loved multiple things. First, there was the food. The spread of items wasn't exceptional to be honest but what really stood out was the quality of the ingredients and the cooking. It didn't matter whether we were tucking into the zamindari thali at lunch or the kebabs in the evening or even the Asian for dinner. Everything, including breakfast the following morning, was fantastic. The stand out item for us though was the kochupata chingri. We also loved the friendliness of the staff. Always smiling and most importantly, nearly every single one of them knew something or the other about the history of the 400 yr old property, ranging from the little info about how the temple of Dakshineswar was inspired by the temple (also built by Rani Rashmoni before Dakshineswar) outside the rajbari, the films that have been shot at the location (Ray's Jalsaghar, Guru Dutt's Saheb Biwi Ghulam or the more recent Bulbul). Finally, a word on the bartending skills of Kanji and Abhishek. Absolutely brilliant! Loved the gondhoraj cosmopolitan and the whisky sour that we ordered. My second drink was a bartender's special with whisky orange juice, triple sec and some other stuff. Fabulous is the word. I'd also like to call out some staff members who were superb - Nibedita and Subhojit. Last but not the least, I loved the fact that the valet had cooled our car a bit before bringing it to us. Attention to detail was incredible.

IndiaEven if the place is huge, I was not able to be quiet for a while. Also staff or visitors coming forth and back. Visitors should not be allowed to areas where residents are staying. But residents should be shown the property and not be left alone while waiting for hours. A lot of work going on what is understandable but annoying when right beside both rooms I have been staying in.
Extraordinary place with awesome decor. Nice garden and swimming pools. Lovely entertainment on one night. Beautiful spa.

IndiaService was not similar to what i have experienced in my 1st visit , and the cost food and other items has increased significantly, which is not justified compared to best place to eat in Kolkata , outside seating arrangement is not up to mark, my earlier visit i saw there is an ample space to move around, now those space is used to build new rooms. they should buy near by land to expand rather than utilized the little available space within the property.

United KingdomFront desk & administrative staff not very knowledgeable & could be a little more helpful. For a high end property their communications & reservations system leaves a lot to be desired. Telephones not properly manned. Even after we completed our stay & had left the resort we kept getting emails requesting deposit payment to secure our booking. Other than within the resort grounds there was nothing much to do.. Strolling around the locality not very nice either.
The staff were very friendly & helpful. A special mention for Suman Pal, who went out of his way to serve our needs. The bar on the upper level overlooking the central courtyard was very nice but the bartender that served us got a cocktail drink wrong - twice. Prices were reasonable. Food was exceptional, especially the lunch thali. Also the breakfast buffet had a good spread of ethnic & foreign dishes. Overall we were satisfied with our one night's stay & would recommend a visit.

United States of Americacheck in process needs to be better. payments that I'd made earlier (to secure our booking), were not in their system. I had to supply the transaction details again. I had had extensive discussions with Ricarda the front desk of the property, yet when i arrived, I had to remind the the clerk checking us in, of the payment alreay made , of the special requests i had made for my handicapped sister, etc. I would not have expected these kind of gaps in information flow, from a resort that is charging pretty much 5 star rates.
Food was amazing, so were the rooms and environment. A bit of Cultural entertainment in the evening was a good touch, much appreciated.

United Arab EmiratesPerhaps the internet in the room could be better but we were told that the thick walls beat the current day technology and on the other hand one can always choose to detox for a day or two. So we are not complaining :)
The overall palatial structure which has been so beautifully restored with glimpses of the past lent a magnificent ambiance to the place. The lighting is thoughtfully done resulting in a mystique to the property.

IndiaThe rooms and the amenities inside the room could have been more and better. There was no hair dryer though they sent me one when i asked for, there was no tv in the room. They charge you same rates as any other 5 star property in Kolkata so the in room amenities should be improved. The food was super expensive and variety was very less. The food quantity was more but then if its so expensive, how can someone try all the delicacies? There was water logging in the bathing area of the classic heritage room and due to construction work going on just beside the room, we could not sleep well in the early morning. The fish preparation in the dinner ala carte was uncooked though the staff immediately changed it but still it is not expected in such an expensive resort. Later they gave the dinner as complimentary to me which was good.
Well i spent my birthday this year at this amazing property. I loved the bengali rajbari decor and the lighting. Loved the clean pool. The rooms were spacious. Food was tasty. Ambience was "wow". They came up with a cake(surprise) which i cut in the courtyard while the vocalist lady sang "happy birthday" which was lovely. At night they sent me a bowl of payesh which is a bengali must on birthdays, that touched me so deep. The staffs are extremely friendly and approachable.
