Hallway was dark (all lights on sensors and worked OK) but even with the lights on it was a little dark. It was a little way outside Vik but we had a car and that didn't matter to us. The out buildings (guest rooms) were quite dated and would benefit from some TLC.

- walls extremely thin - we were near the entrance of the building and our door rattled every time the main door was closed/heard everyone entering and leaving - breakfast could have more protein options

The room was cold. Our feet were freezing. It was 18 degrees inside the room (-3 outside) with no way to adjust the temperature (the console display worked but I don’t think it was attached to anything. Staff brought over a plug in radiator which helped. Overnight however the bathroom sink blocked up the minute we used it. Badly. I did some remedial plumbing and removed a plug of hair and who knows whatever that was blocking the s-bend and on through to the downpipe. It clearly had been blocked for some time and hadn’t been looked at for ages. General maintenance calls for a periodic inspection.

That rooms and amenities are in different buildings, so you have to walk in the cold during winter to go to the jacuzzi and to the restaurant.

The bathroom was nothing like the pictures on Booking.com. It was clean, but outdated with a showercurtain and a rusty bar for disabled.

Could have used radiators and the room was a bit chilly but it wasn't a big deal for us since we didn't have any wet clothes to dry.

We had to leave at 6am to head over to snowmobiling in the south east on Vatnajökull, so we were unable to make breakfast - I’d have liked this to start a little earlier than 7am considering a lot of people use Vik as a stopping point too! But the hotel is incredibly beautiful :)

Beautiful hotel with lots of different outbuildings that all seem to have a beautiful view attached. Great spa access with an heated outdoor tub, which I can imagine are great for looking out for the northern lights! The perfect distance from Vik as we like it a little quieter. Great big windows too!

The room walls are a bit thin and you can hear other guests next door. This was fine for us as the guests next to us were mostly quiet but just a consideration or bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.

Hotel was well located just outside of Vik with clean and warm good sized rooms and a lovely spa / sauna area and basic coffee facilities in the room. We enjoyed our 2 night stay as there were lots of food options in town and we could relax in the sauna after a full day of adventures.

Comfy rooms and great views. Loved that we could get food at the restaurant and breakfast it made it much easier after a long day. Also the staff were so helpful and had options for gluten free.

One soap for both hair and body.

Facilities were clean, bed was warm and comfortable, bathroom and shower were good. Breakfast was great, coffee at breakfast was much better than the instant in the room.

Tour busses stay so we had two different groups of young kids next to our rooms on both nights who were loud.

Location 5 minutes out of Vik so close to drive back into for dinner. Great hot pool. We didn’t see the northern lights either nights but would recommend driving out of the hotel slightly down the road since is a few lights from the large hotel. Breakfast good, lots of options. Clean and amazing staff.

Amazing hotel. Good food. Excellent location down in South enabling us to do an ice cave tour on one day and drive back to Reykjavik while optimising our route at the attraction points.

No radiator in room. Temperature was not an issue, as it was warm enough, but we couldn’t dry our rain-soaked clothes. Breakfast was not great for me, as someone with a nut allergy. I was limited to just jam on toast, cereal and peeled fruit.

Spa facilities were great, it was lovely using hot tub and sauna (although it’s only open 4-11). Good location for seeing the aurora, as there was very little light pollution. Some great hikes just a short drive away (5 mins). Restaurant was great for dinner.

If you want to watch the Northern Lights from your room, this hotel isn’t a good choise. The spa was too small for that many people.

We had a nice, spacious, well-equipped room. The breakfast was varied.
