The fire alarm started making beep beep in the evening, probably because of someone cooking. The box for it is at the entrance. So we all gathered there trying to guess what to do. The instructions on the box are in islandic language! Hello? For foreign guests? How about english? There is no staff near the house. We pressed some button and it went off. We were so happy. But then it started making beep beep at 4 in the morning! Half of the house woke up. We could not make it go off again. I called the telephone number I had. Someone answered and said that she will give the information further and someone will come. One hour later the beep beep stopped by itself. Finally the old lady in charge came to turn it off only at 8.am! Well thank you (irony)! Some group of guests left the house already at 5.am because it woke up from this beep beep and could not sleep. Please write instructions in english for turning that thing off!

The house and the rooms are OK for 1 night. The house is a former school, there are common bathrooms, but the bathrooms are nicely renovated. The rooms were clean and nice, the beds comfortable. There is a common kitchen with 2 big tables in the eating room. There are appr maybe 15 rooms in the house, so the kitchen was full of cooking people alls the time, actually there are 2 kitchens in one room and 2 big tables for appr 8 people each, but this is not enough if everyone is there at the same time. Still everyone was nice and considerate of the other guests and made it work. We code the code for opening the door from booking in the afternoon (so the phone always has to be charged and to have internet in Island, you get the code sent always in the afternoon the same day). The fotos are as in reality. So for Island and for a 1 night stay it was OK. The price is good. The location is good, near Egilstadir. Some tips depenting on where you are going - don't miss the GeoSea Termal baths in Husavik with a view to the ocean, plan some time for the Studlagil canyon between Myvatn an Egilstadir , because we missed it due to lack of time, so sorry about that, maybe skip the Myvatn baths instead and visit the beautiful Vök baths in Egilstadir, you can also bathe in the lake from those. And don't forget to buy moskitoe nets for wearing in Myvatn area in a tank station - we missed that and were very annoyed by thousends of mosquitoes (not biting) in Myvatn area and in Krafla.

We had no cell service until we arrived, so we did not see the message telling us to call a half hour before arriving. So upon arrival, we had to wait 15 minutes for the host to arrive back on location to check us in and collect payment. It was not a huge deal, but did delay our evening plans. Zero channels available on the TV.

Spacious room with decent amount of counter space. Beds were comfortable. Having a kitchen was nice.

Layout is quirky, 1 bedroom is off the entryway, and the other is down a hallway off the common living area. No bedroom doors, just accordion partitions. Shower is tiny and only shampoo/bodywash combo is provided. Walls are a little thin, could hear our neighbors.

Large apartment with nice kitchenette, fridge, and large bathroom. Beds and blankets were comfy and had black out shades on the windows. Spacious entryway perfect for dropping shoes and coats. Private forest view outside of town. Check in is through lockbox so check your messages for the instructions. No one is onsite.

The room was not cleaned when we arrived. On the positive side, 10 min after calling the hosts they arrived and apologized and 20 min later the room was cleaned and available.

Quick response time, good communication with hosts. Good common rooms, including kitchen.
