Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. So special place in nice location on the Talek river, many animals around , hippos and crocodiles monkeys and more. The rooms are very clean and have all the facilities you will need. The food is superb. And the staff are very friendly and always happy to help on all what needs. It’s not my first time in Mara but it’s the best place I have ever stay in Mara.

Everything, a stunning camp in a lovely location with the friendliest team we have ever had. The welcome at the airstrip to the farewell - was all first class. John (Safari Guide) was incredible and provided some excellent viewing with the lions being incredible. Joshua and Lawrence in the dining area were attentive and charming and provided 5* service. The slide show talk on Masai culture was excellent. Food was brilliant- 4/5 course meals.

United KingdomNot about the property but did not particularly enjoy our trip to the Masai village, felt like a total tourist hustle from start to finish.
The stay was perfect from start to finish. The room was lovely, the small touches such as wake up call with coffee in a flask and biscuits and hot water bottles waiting in your bed each evening. The whole staff at Mara intrepids make the place so special. Metrine, Paul and Lawrence are absolute gems, such genuinely warm, kind, fun people. The safari drives were incredible!!! We saw soo much in 4 days. The whole stay was perfect. Simon was our driver and he is the absolute best game driver - so skilled and knowledgeable and also such a calming presence. Food was amazing, cocktails delicious. Pineapple juice 10/10.

United KingdomThe food could be better / fresher as it seems centered to accommodate what seemed like mostly white American tourists with more limited palates. Nevertheless, they did their best and the staff is amazing.
The guides are amazing and the facility is beautiful. Also two minutes from the airstrip

Netherlandsif I would give one suggestion they should install a water filter to provide guest free drinking water at lunch and diner. In the room it’s complimentary but they use (glass) bottles in the room to drink but at lunch and diner you pay for water. I personally think that’s not sustainable and a bit old fashioned. When we asked for extra water it was no problem at all so just a small improvement thing in the future
good tents and well organized camp. In the morning they bring you coffee or hot chocolate to the tent and in evenings they put a jug of hot water in the bed to warm the bed. The gamedrives with Dominic were really good, professional and fun. Really entertaining to see all the animals. We will come back!

SpainFinding the right accommodation in Masai Mara was a challenge, but after a thorough comparison of game drives, amenities, and services, Max Mara emerged as the best choice in terms of quality and price. I have never regretted opting for this hotel. Every member of the team, like Duncan, provided exceptional service, although I regret not remembering all their names. Situated just three minutes from Ol Kiombo airstrip, the hotel ensured seamless transportation, with our driver Samson attending to us from arrival to departure—an invaluable consistency throughout our stay. The culinary experience was outstanding, offering a diverse array of delicious meals. The tents were immaculate, complete with amenities and a constant water supply. Additionally, the morning gesture of serving tea, coffee, and biscuits on the terrace before breakfast was a delightful touch. The expansive resort boasts well-maintained gardens, often visited by friendly monkeys. However, what truly stood out were the exhilarating game drives. With Samson, an experienced driver of 18 years, at the helm, the journey was not only safe but also educational and enjoyable. His extensive knowledge of wildlife surpassed that of any textbook, and his ability to spot animals was uncanny. Despite my initial apprehension, Samson made me feel secure in his jeep, imparting valuable lessons about nature along the way. I am immensely grateful for this incredible adventure and for Samson's guidance throughout. Thank you for an unforgettable experience and to feel safe in your resort.

United KingdomThe most incredible location with the best staff. We stayed for 4 nights in January and can’t rate it highly enough. The staff were amazing. The location is less than 5 minutes from the airstrip. Daisy greeted us when we first arrived with a refreshing drink and asked if we wanted to go straight on Safari after being shown to our rooms. Simon our guide looked after us for 4 days. He always knew where to go and where to get the best angle. He went above and beyond making sure we had a great experience every day. The staff in the hotel were exceptional. Lawrence and Paul generally looked after us in the restaurant and they were amazing. Always friendly and very witty. They made sure my allergies were catered to. The chefs were amazing and cooked some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. There was so much choice every day. Lunch and Dinner was generally a 5 or 7 course extravaganza. We only ever managed a few of the courses as there was so much food. On the last night they organised a private bbq with incredible food. The bar staff were also excellent and knew how to make great cocktails. The tent was gorgeous and cosy and absolutely spotless. Even the veranda overlooking the river was spotless. Not an insect to be seen! The staff put hot water bottles into the bed every night at turn down and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. I had some of the best sleep I’ve ever had. In the mornings we were courteously woken up with hot drinks and biscuits brought to our tent. All in all an amazing place! We did lots of research on all the camps and we’re so glad we booked Mara Intrepids Camp.

United States of AmericaI wish the there were more options for dinner. I think something other than American/European cuisine would allow people to be more adventurous. Might want to consider have a small dish option for those who are adventurous.
Great location. Their focus on making the game drives enjoyable was very visible. I recommend the hotel to get the most out of a limited time visit. We had 3 wonderful days and that seemed like a perfect amount of time.

United States of AmericaNo complaints.
My stay here was perfect. I stayed 3 days and 4 nights and it felt like the perfect amount of time to be here. Our staff was amazing the entire time. Our tent is right next to the river, and the camp is in the middle of the park. It was perfect. Going in beginning of January, you may experience a little bit of rain to prepare for. Carolyne at reception is great for any of your needs and so kind to talk to. George is a great chef and great conversation during our meal preparations. All staff was amazing honestly. I highly recommend this camp for your stay. They can book any extras you may want along the way. We got to see every animal of big 5 except the rhino which was understandable why. Stay here for the best service and experience for your safari adventure in Kenya. I will be returing!

SpainMaybe it would be good to install water filters to save bottles (which are glass) but maybe the water available is not great for filtering?
The staff were amazing. Super professional safari guides. Ours was Silas, He has so much experience and knowledge, Super polite and determined to make sure we saw everything. We saw the big 5 within 3 drives. We also enjoyed having Matrine as our waitress, she was so charming! Duncan on concierge couldn’t have been more helpful. Wonderful staff all around.

BelgiumWe had a very good stay at the lodge. The lodge is ideally located: 2 minutes from the airstrip. Our tent was very good: quiet with a view of the river from where you can spot hippos, monkeys and elephants. The tent was nicely furnished and clean. The game drives were sublime. Our driver Joab was a very good guide; He took his time and gave clear explanations about the animals; The staff was very friendly and helpful. Every evening you could attend a presentation about the animals, the ecosystem, the Masai,... It was presented very well. Lunch and dinner were fine and tasty. Sometimes there was also a buffet, all products were fresh. We will definitely go back!

United States of AmericaI was initially hesitant to book Mara Intrepids Tented Camp due to some mixed reviews, but my experience was exceptional. I felt that the value was extraordinary. We were given a guide, Paul, who fetched us from the airport and was our game driver the entire trip. Paul was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his work, and he went above and beyond to show us the best of the Mara. The naturalist who gave lectures in the evenings was also excellent, and I learned a great deal about the wildlife and culture of the region. Our waiter, Paul, was also a delight, and he patiently tended to our dietary restrictions. The tent was truly luxurious, and it was amazing to have such amenities in the middle of the Mara. I even received a fantastic massage from Anne while watching a baby hippo and its mother in the hippo pond! I was treated so wonderfully by Mara Intrepids that it was difficult to leave. If you don’t have cash for tipping, the camp allows you to do it with your credit card, which was a nice touch as I was at the end of my trip and there was no ATM nearby.

NetherlandsWe loved the 5 course meals, to nit-pick - meals usually took an hour - so maybe an express lunch option at a different pricing could be good for those wanting to spend time in other activities.
Perfect location - right next to Ol Kiombo airstrip, the most amazing staff, incredible food, and beautiful tents! Our safari guide, Joab, and the staff namely, Metrine, Masila, Charles and Sallilah (apologies for any typos!!) were very friendly and took a lot of effort. We thank the entire team for their dedication and hard work.
