hot water pressure wasn’t the best, but have found this is many other places in sri lanka. shared fridge in communal area would have liked one in the room like some of the pictures did show. rooftop party on the wednesday night was 2 buildings away and very loud didn’t end until 4am

across the road to lazy left and lazy right. could wake up and check the surf from the balcony. good a/c. wi-fi was also good

Pillows and bedding were old and dirty, setting off allergies. No fridge in the room, but access to communal fridge. Quite noisy next to road and railway line behind. Very load rave party from 5pm to 4am in neighbouring hotel on Wed and Fri.

Central Location is excellent. Just walk across the road to lazy left and right surf breaks. Short Tuk Tuk ride to all other spots. Nice room with good air conditioning. Good balcony and views.

Nothing to dislike.

This is a haven to stay at. Convenient beach front location (directly across the road) & the facilities were exceptional. Clean and roomy with fab balconies for every room. Food is also available and if requested breakfast will be delivered to your balcony. There are also dining areas outside too in the gardens and terraced area. The family who runs this hotel are incredibly helpful and always available as they live on site in a separate building which also incorporates reception. They have a handy large fridge you can pop things in and water that you can buy cheaply. (Ask if you need beers, these are stocked inside & cheaper than at restaurants) We booked our taxi to Colombo airport here too, altho there is a train station and buses, we wanted to maximise our time here. It cost 20,000 rupees which was more expensive, train is 500 but you can’t book in advance and only 2nd class but shd be fine although you may end up standing for over 3 hours in heat. The taxi was reliable, easy and convenient. They also have a security guard / night watchman who is present outside all night so you feel super safe.

Not on the accommodation but keep in mind the surf spots there are rather for experienced surfers than beginners as there are many rocks + it’s deep. It really is loud bc of the street (lots of honking) and the rails. Also the shower has almost no water pressure

Rooms are nice, location is right in front of a nice beach and close to surf spots and some restaurants / bars. The building looks super cozy, lots of space to chill, balconies are great:)

Everything was great, but make sure to bring an adaptor for the old Sri Lankan electrical outlets.

This place is run by a lovely family. It was my second time in this hotel and I will visit again. The rooms are comfortable and the surf beach is just across the road. I had all my breakfast and sometimes dinner at the hotel and the food is lovely. The family is so friendly and helpful.

Excellent location can’t get much closer to the beaches. Close to all of the main restaurants on the midigama main road. The room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the garden and sea view. Watch out for the buses on this stretch as they drive very fast .

Only downfall, which isn’t their fault, is the party night at Lazies on Tuesdays with loud music. But it wouldn’t stop us from staying again.

We loved it here! Just what we needed. Not full of loud surfers, just a chilled vibe. Road and railway can be noisy but we weren’t bothered. Clean room and friendly family staff. Very close to the break and great storage for boards. We also hired a scooter through them too. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommend

Loud party every Tuesday from another nearby hostel every which runs until early hours.

Property was easy to book, good price and the room was clean. Staff were cleaning throughout the day and kept the place looking nice. Close proximity to the beach and an outdoor shower available for when we got back.

This place was so perfect for our stay in Midigama! Directly across from the beach, walking distance to many great restaurants and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Also centrally located for trips to Weligama and Ahangma Bay! Everything we needed for our two week stay! The family that runs this hotel are the sweetest people! They even let us store a few bags there while we traveled through the rest of the country. We could easily rent a scooter through them and Breakfast was also delicious. Could not recommend hot tuna more for your stay!

The place is so nice, is near the beach and so close for Ahangama and Welligama where you can go to lot of nice restaurants. The family ar Hot Tuna is super nice, helpful and kind. I will repeat this place if I’ll came again to the south of Sri Lanka. Thank you.

This is no fault of the property owners, at all as we really enjoyed our stay and for the most part it was very quiet and easy to sleep. The only thing we would warn about is that there is a party that goes on next door on a Tuesday until 6am, which is great if you want to party, but otherwise would recommend bringing some ear plugs!

The family that own and run this accommodation were very friendly and helpful, there was always someone around to come and help any time of day. Special shout-out to who we assumed was the grandpa of the family who was very sweet and we nicknamed ‘smiley grandad’ as we was so friendly. The location of the property in-front of lazy left and right was perfect for surfing and easily checking conditions through the day. We loved it!

Was too noisy for us, being close to the main road and the train. Pillows are very big and hard.

I loved everything about my stay at Hot Tuna. I already extended it 2 times and now traveling from the inlands back I will also return. The rooms are clean and bright. The surrounding is lovely and clean. The staff is amazing and very helpful. For me this is home away from home! Also just cross the street to enter lazy left and right!

Everything was great! If you are sensitive to noise, the trains can be quite loud, but this never bothered me.

My initial 1 week stay at Hot Tuna turned into nearly 3 weeks! The family were so helpful and accommodating. Location is directly across from Lazy left and right surf spot with so much only walking distance or a short tuktuk ride away. They also helped me organise an airport transfer and there was no issue that I arrived at the property at 2am. The breakfast and food they offer is great and the sea view area is a wonderful spot to relax and read a book.

amazing place for surfers. near lazy right and lazy left and other spots 10 minutes walk. friendly staff. you should know that there is a railway nearby, noise comes from it. if this is a problem for you, then take ear plugs or surf more to sleep soundly :) the railroad runs through the entire coast. so anywhere you hear the train. take it as part of amazing sri lanka
