Best sea view, quiet hotel in Unavatuna (it’s very important), very kind and professional staff, really clean rooms, best price (cheap). Very good private beach - you really can bath when waves also, as the stones make this place not dangerous. If you want to swim, you can go 5 minutes by foot to the right and swim on the central Unavatuna beach - with cafes, sunbeds and crowds of people and dogs.

Although there are sun beds they are not really in a functional position. Perhaps the hotel should be aware that guests may need them placed on the beach?

Proximity to beach was perfect. Breakfast was very good with service first class. Rooms were clean and well air conditioned plus a very good bathroom. This was my second visit to the hotel the last being in 2018. The hotel has had some major improvements to the rooms which now have modern doors fitted to the first floor sea facing rooms. The staff could not have been more helpful particularly Chandana and and Sadith. I certainly hope to return

The sunbeds are on the ground floor of the house tucked away, would have been nice if they were placed on the beach for the guests.

The most wonderful stay, large clean room with nice bathroom and balcony overlooking the sea. Lovely to sit and chill and watch the sunset. All staff so friendly. Walking distance to restaurants and a short tuktuk ride to the centre for shopping bars and restaurants.

Located at a walking distance from Unawatuna public beach, it’s bang on the road connecting galle and Mirissa and has access to all the hotspots, restaurants, and public transport. We’re definitely coming back to La Veranda when we visit Srilanka again

Wow! We arrived early for our final 2 nights in Sri Lanka and were provided with beach towels so we could enjoy the sea whilst we waited for our room - having previously stayed in the heart of Unawatuna we felt truly spoilt to have the beach and sea outside the hotel to ourselves! By the time we got to our room the time on the beach and in the sea meant we really weren’t to worried about the room however it just got better - balcony overlooking the sea with comfortable chairs, a HOT shower (we hadn’t come across many in our 3 weeks) super soft towels, a comfortable bed, a fan and AC that worked and a stocked mini bar! The owner loves his hotel as much as we did telling us he had grown up with the palm tree that is growing out of the building, insisting it not be cut down when he changed the building from a restaurant to a hotel after the tsunami he instead build around it. Due to an early start we only had breakfast one morning however the fruit juice was the best we had during our time in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan omelet was done very well. Though away from the Main Strip of Unawatuna there are a few restaurants, shops, a ‘wine shop’ and dive shops within a short walk. The main strip is a quick trip in a Tuk tuk or a 15-20 walk.

Slightly far from main area but cheap tuk tuk or 25 min walk to main drag. Meant it was quiet which was nice at night.

Right on the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Good breakfast. We picked a sea view with balcony so we could over look the sea.

A lovely family feel, super friendly staff who can’t do enough to help and make you feel comfortable. The little beach out the front is great and we saw turtles bobbing their heads out of the water every day. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was delicious - the best fruit juice I’ve had yet! It’s only a short walk to the main beach, tuk tuks easy to get to pop into town or Galle. Enough small bars and places to eat in walking distance.

As shown on pictures and better! Room overlooking the ocean, small private beach , great for swimming and sunbathing. Breakfast is so delicious (traditional string hoppers and dal - spicy lentil soup ) , fresh smoothy , big platter of fresh fruit and Sri Lankan coffee ! You basically don’t need more till dinner . Chandana and his family are great host and can accommodate any needs and wishes you may have.
