you can not go wrong with this well managed hotel. rooms are convenient and very clean. the included breakfast is realy good and kalhara is a smart host and gives any help with safaris, renting scooter, transport to or from his location. especially when you arrive by train a quick transport can be arranged by telling kalhara as soon as you know your estimated arrival time. best idea for me was renting i scooter. but you can walk to the village just 800m away. i can recommend the place.... thx

I should have paid more attention when booking: Habarana itself is a small village min 30min drive from anything you'd want to see in the area. This means you'll spend time and money to go to different sites, unless you have your own scooter/tuktuk. This clearly has nothing to do with the host or the facility itself but it's worth considering when booking

Clean a big room, a place to put your bag and a hanger available. The host was very attentive and friendly, he even helped me to catch the bus and got me a surprise birthday cake 😍

Beautiful, simple and clean rooms in pleasant and peaceful surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner, Kalhara, goes out of his way to ensure the stay is great, from arranging transport at decent prices to giving recommendations for things to do. The food provided for breakfast is also pretty delicious and generous in portion.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Swan Lake Habarana and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that Mr. Kalhara went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable. He was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and went out of the way to make sure all our needs were met throughout stay. He took great efforts to put a scrumptious meals and breakfast. The rooms were impeccably clean and spacious, providing ample space to relax and unwind. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the beautiful garden surrounding the accommodation.

It was not clear on booking.com if the rooms came with AC or Fan (or if both) - or maybe we just didn't read properly. The fan room was still cool and comfy to sleep in.

We were quite lucky to have the location to ourselves as we booked all 3 available rooms for the family. The rooms were spacious and clean, just like in the pictures. The hosts were very helpful and communicative, we asked for extra towels, and adaptor plugs for the hairdryer and they quickly responded to our needs. Breakfast was superb: every morning we had a different spread (Sri-Lankan/ Continental brekkie, which they asked about the night before) and tea/coffee + fresh juice. As it was such a lovely place we decided to order dinner (not included in booking) for the two nights we stayed from the them. Delicious! The host also arrange for a Village tour: amazing experience visiting the local village, bull-cart ride, lake-boat tour and village food cooking demo. Definitely going back!

Wild monkeys visit the garden in the morning, yummy breakfast, the owner is very helpful and friendly for all kinds of traveling arrangments. we enjoyed a lot here.

I stayed at Swan Lake Habarana for three nights, using it as a base for day trips to Sigiriya, Dambulla and Anuradhapura, and I had a great stay. Kalhara is a great host and helped with planning the trips. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was wonderful. I had dinner at Swan Lake three times as well because it was some of the best Sri Lankan food I’ve had. But there’s also a large selection of restaurants in the town if you want to explore those options. Kalhara also arranged a tuk tuk to visit the various archaeological sites on the first day. On the second day I made my own arrangements using PickMe but I came to realize I should’ve stuck with Kalhara’s driver as the service was great and the price was 30% better.

Nice modern place which was very clean with a beautiful garden. Breakfast was fresh, delicious and also included coffee or tea. Dinner was offered during my stay at an additional price and was also outstanding. Great location, very central if you want to visit Sigiriya, Pidurangala, Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, Dambulla and Ritigala. There are also a lot of opportunities to see wildlife including elephants in the area. Would highly recommend for anyone travelling in Sri Lanka.

The accommodation meets all expectations: it is centrally located to discover the cultural triangle. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. We got new towels and bedsheets after 2 nights. We asked for dinners and we had wonderful, home-cooked meals prepared by the owner and his wife. All allergies were accommodated. They are very kind people and whatever question you might have they are ready to help or to arrange anything for you. The patio and the balcony are very relaxing, the garden is beautiful and you get home-grown fruits for breakfast. You can safely park in the garden. There is hot water in the bathroom without any issue.

Very cheap so can't really complain about anything too much given the price. The local town is very small and there's not much to do/ v little nightlife (Nothing to do with the hotel but just a heads up).
