А super place, a friendly family. Perfect cleanliness. Amazing breakfasts, served like in a restaurant. The owner's son speaks excellent English, there were no problems with understanding. He also helped us with some issues. Highly recommend!

We had not intended to stay here but are so very glad we did. The family is lovely and very welcoming. Our room was on the ground floor, it was exceptionally clean, well furnished with a wardrobe, small fridge, fan and air-conditioner. The bed was very comfortable and had a mosquito net. There was also a small balcony outside with table and chairs to sit. Lovely breakfast each day and our host accommodated our request for some changes to the breakfast. The property is very close to the train station, restaurants and the beach is just across the railway track, all less than 5 minutes’ walk. The sound of the few trains in the night and morning is hardly noticeable, in fact it was our highlight. We spent quite a bit of time at the railway station and each evening we would enjoy our meals in one of the restaurants along the track watching the trains go by. The railway station was built in 1967, it was designed by Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s famous architect and resembles a railway carriage. It has sadly seen better days but is still a wonderful piece of history.

If you want to be picky, then you can hear the trains going by at all hours. It didn't bother us.

The family were extremely welcoming and friendly. The bedroom, bathroom and bed were all enormous. There is a shower curtain!, wardrobe and fridge. Also a very nice large balcony. Breakfast was very nice & plentiful with plenty of tea served in a China teapot.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the great hospitality and value-for-money. Our host and her sons gave us lots of helpful advise and we looked forward to the treats at breakfast. This was beautifully presented and plentiful. Our room had A/C, fan, ample storage space and a spacious balcony. We travelled there on the train. The guest house is very close to Bentota station but the trains didn't disturb our sleep during our 4 night stay. Highly recommended

I absolutely loved this place. It was a 5 min walk to the beach, and cleaner than any place I've stayed in before. The family were incredibly warm and accommodating. I would recommend wholeheartedly.

I stayed in the Deluxe Double Room at Welcome Family Guest House for two nights. It was impeccably clean - truly, completely spotless and there was no fault to find anywhere! The Guest House is located right behind Bentota station, and is perhaps a 6 minute walk to the beach, and to the main road. So it really doesn't get any better than this, especially for the price. But if I had to choose one reason why you absolutely must stay here - it is the incredibly warm Sri Lankan couple and their sons whom you live with. On the first night, I told them I was vegetarian, so the host came with me to the neighbouring restaurant to ask them to cook something especially for me. They also arrange mangrove safaris, and provide amaaaazing Sri Lankan breakfast every morning. The spread is quite vast and I actually had to ask them to cut back on the servings as it was a little too much for me (not often that you find yourself being over-served food in a guest house!) I was also a solo female traveller and felt completely safe here. Please go!

I booked a room in Welcome family guest house at Bentota for my 2nights stay. I find everything good there. Family who runs this guest house is very helpful. They arranged Tuk-Tuk for my sight-seeing in reasonable price. They also give me printout of my return flight ticket and covid report. Room was clean with all the facilities mentioned here. English breakfast was given to me and they also provide me dinner on my request, thankyou for that. If you visit Bentota, book your stay at welcome family guest house.

Twin bed configuration was very cramped. Almost had to climb over my travel companion's bed during the night to go to the bathroom. Maybe putting the beds on the other wall might help. Shower pressure could have been better.
