Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

ItalyRachid has been so helpful and nice to help us to find the place, he showed us everything, the terrace and the bedroom. He was very nice still at the end when we had a problem to pay and helped us to contact the owners and solve the problem. The place is very well located in the center of Essaouira.

United KingdomNothing.
Tucked away down an alley behind a smart hotel, just inside the medina and a couple of minutes from the sea and the souks. Lovely riad; our room was spacious, with cooking facilities and a huge bed on a mezzanine. Several terraces to sit out on, with fine views of the town and the sea from the roof terrace - perfect for watching the sunset. Good breakfast prepared and served in the downstairs kitchen by Latifa. She and Rachid were there when needed, and were very helpful. Essaoira is a great town to chill out in, especially if you are coming from the madness of Marrakech.

United KingdomThe bells! I'd read reviews about the bell ringing and thought it would be fine but it is super annoying, it rings every 15 minutes even through the night 😳. I imagine you can hear it from many riads in the Medina, not just at this property There was also quite a bit of noise from evening entertainment but we like to go to bed early, it probably wouldn't bother most people. The riad is at the end of a dark alley so it's a little intimidating at first...all of the riads we stayed in were down alleys so that wasn't particularly unusual, it was just that it was a dead end and dark (during the day, it's lit at night) I wouldn't let that put you off but it's nice to know what to expect.
Very clean riad, a lot of attention was given to the cleanliness and we had fresh towels every day. Breakfast was nice. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook. We were able to leave our bags on check out day to save lugging them around. Well located for the harbour and the Medina. Staff were helpful and friendly.

United KingdomNo cupboards or wardrobe. However we managed with the hook on the wall and the shelves and felt that we were experiencing the local customs. Steep narrow stairs up to the bed
A traditional Riad in the Medina. Fantastic location, walking distance to beach and port. Interesting to be living the traditional way in a charming room. Good breakfast with homemade yoghurt and “crepes”, breads, honey and spreads, coffee and a choice of teas prepared by Latifa.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we wish, we would have had more time here. For us, everything was perfect: a spacious and beautifully decorated and very clean room with everything we needed - there was even a small kitchen! Our room was cleaned and the bed was made every morning, which we appreciated a lot. The Dar Lazuli has many shared spaces, each of them thoughtfully decorated and to make the guest feel cozy and at home. The view from the rooftop is stunning - especially at sun set! The location is perfect - in the old town of Essaouira, but only 5 mins from a parking (if needed). Rachid, who is running the house, is very kind and helpful and we felt very welcome. We can 100% recommend and would stay here again next time. Thank you!

United KingdomWe were happy with it all, nothing negative to say.
We were very impressed with our stay at Dar Lazuli. It far exceeded our expectations. Rachid and Latifa went out of their way and made us feel very welcomed. They were really helpful whenever we needed any advice. The room and bathroom was kept extremely clean. We were impressed with the facilities in the room, which included kitchen appliances. Breakfast was really good. Location was excellent - very central in the medina of Essaouira, and literally a couple of mins walk from the main square.

What a pleasant surprise! Dar Lazuli surpassed our expectations. It’s a traditional Moroccan house with 3 well designed tiny apartments, all with kitchen which we loved, we bought great quality food at the Carrefour supermarket when we didn’t feel like going out and cooked in our cozy apartment. Latifa was extraordinary preparing our breakfast every morning and served where we wanted. I booked a cooking class in the Riad with Hayat, which turned out to be an unforgettable experience. We loved it so much that we ended up extending our stay.

GermanyThere is really nothing that we lacked or were disatisfied about during our stay. Many thanks to the owners and the stuff for a truly excellent service! We just can't recommend this riad enough to our fellow travellers!
We travelled to Essaouira almost two weeks after Morocco opened for travel again, so we were lucky to have this beautiful riad all to ourselves for three nights! We stayed in the first floor apartment called Calima, which is spatious and has a kitchenette, a beautiful sitting area, a traditional functional stove and a bathroom. We were comfortable and really appreciated the riad's tasteful decorations, its traditional charm, the cleanliness and the delicious breakfast prepared by Latifa and served on the lower terrace. The riad has three terraces, the top one has beautiful beach and ocean views. Loungers are also provided. The riad is centrally located and close to the beach, easy to find. The friendly Rachid met us in the little square close to the riad and walked us to it, showed us around, everything went smoothly. The double bed is big and very comfortable, the internet works fine on all levels, the shower has good pressure, and there are plenty of books in English or French. The communication with the owners and the stuff prior and during our stay went very well. We could leave our luggage at the riad until the afternoon of our departure, which was really kind. There is really nothing more one could ask for.

PolandThis hotel is example of tradition at the price of comfort. Very narrow but cold room, kitchen without coffee/tea, to get to/from bed need to use steep stairs, matter of time when someone will fall. WiFi or 3g not working on the bed. Mirrors at bathroom are at very low height
Close to parking and port
