I was there with my wife looking for relaxation, I think people looking for activity would be better off elsewhere. Slightly picky, but during meals too many people asked me if I was happy, which at some point became slightly irritating.

The colour of the water, the sand and the sky were perfect. The villas were enormous and meant you were happy to be in them all day. There were loads of staff looking to make everything perfect. It was the most relaxing and beautiful place.

Nothing, all was beyond perfect.

Everything was just perfect, right from the beginning until the last second. The team made our honeymoon an unforgettable one, starting from our Mrs. Friday (Jaisha) to Hafeez, Ahmet and everyone who supported us. The facility was unreal, everything was customized for us (even the food menu had our names on it). Food was spot on, every night had a different theme and I honestly cant describe how good it was. We had the best time so far and honestly Gili raised the bar way too high, we will definitely be celebrating one anniversary there.

-It’s just 20 minutes from Velena International Airport. So, more tome to enjoy the resort on the 1st day. -Very beautiful view. The resort has about three or more stunning beaches, each with its own uniqueness. -Comfortable villas, clean and spacious with all the needed amenities. -The water near the villas is crystal clear and calm, very safe for swimming. -The staffs are attentive and friendly, especially our Mr. Friday, Mr. Zubba.

There wasn’t a single thing not to like!

Very luxurious, loved that we had our own bikes to get around, and each day we saw feet sharks or eagle rays swim directly by the villa. Great snorkelling around the island, lots of turtles. Staff were extremely friendly. Our Mr Friday (Mr Alif) was brilliant, very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was out of this world!

However, i want to mention that not all was perfect, there was a little awkward moment with Niang, who told me she was a manager, we met her on our second to last night, at By the sea restaurant and on that night she was polite but a little unwelcoming to us in comparison to how she treated other guests. Then on the last night at Over water bar she made us feel really bad during the Indian buffet night, she lit the lamp on every other table but ours, i had left my husband on the table whilst visiting the bathroom and when i came back i was shocked to see everyone had lamps turned on except for our table, my husband then informed me that he tried to ask her for help, in order to order drinks, while i was away and Niang had avoided him. Niang finally came over as he was telling me and turned the light on, provided wet towels and informed us that the buffet is now open, whilst other guests near us were provided with all of this a good 10 minutes earlier and had already been served their drinks. Niang seemed to assume that because we are of south asian decent we do not need help as something she kept mentioning was “i’m sure you are familiar with this cuisine” followed by a little giggle. I found that extremely rude and condescending. My husband and I being young and british, means our knowledge of south asian food is diluted, not to mention that there are many differences between the indian cuisine at Gili to our own family dishes. For example, it’s so ignorant to assume that every brown person knows what a dosa is, because to be honest, before this night i had not even tried a dosa before. In my opinion this kind of person should not be in a managerial position if she can’t extend her professionalism to every ethnicity, she definitely had a preference and she made it clear that she preferred to mingle with caucasian guests.

There is no wonder why this resort is rated one of the top 10 resorts in the maldives year after year. It really is THE BEST in all aspects. Exceptional service and hospitality from Gili Lankanfushi from start to finish, we were greeted at the airport and swiftly swept away to our speed boat that was already waiting for us at the dock. Then we met the staff on the boat who were our first taste of Gili, the guys were lovely. We were lucky to be the only guests on the boat that morning and it felt like a private experience. The guys on the boat even slowed down to show us some dolphins on the way to Gili which was absolutely amazing. As soon as we arrived we were met by a couple of managers, a few staff members and our outstanding Mr Friday, Zubba. Every room is designated a “Mr Friday” inspired by the Robinson Crusoe movie. Zubba gave us a quick buggy tour of the island, and also checked us in to our room early. Here we opted for the over water villa and we weren’t disappointed, the views of the ocean from our deck were uninterrupted and the water was clean and full of exotic fish and baby sharks. The decor was very authentic castaway island vibes and just so beautiful. The hotel does not have a reception, Zubba explained that he was the reception and is available to us 24 hours for any and every request. After this Zubba left us to do our own thing which was much appreciated. In our past experience at a Maldivian resort the host pressured us to book activities and avoided us unless we had booked pricey excursions with her. But this was not the case with Zubba, we felt like we really had a friend here, he was always there when we needed, exceptionally fast replies and he sorted any issues we had with no complaints. At no point did we feel unwanted or annoying, as Zubba was insistent that we reach out to him whenever we needed him, whilst also giving us our freedom.

Stunning setting and authenticity, with a team lead by Matthew and our Mr Friday (Alif) who went out of their way to make it an unforgettable experience. what is there not to like in a place like paradise.

Everything was perfect to the smallest details. The staff and customer service was top notch. The beaches, the activities, the sea and marine life surrounding you was an experience like no other. The property took care of us from the moment we got off the airport all the way through the time they dropped us back in front of the ticket counter on the way back.
