Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaMusic from neighboring hotels was extremely loud and was played every night until early hours of the morning. While this was out of our hotel’s control, it was the “negative” of our trip.
The beaches of Isla Holbox were amazing. Miles of walkable white sand and turquoise water. We booked the beach bungalow. It was steps away from the beach. The trip was wonderful!

United States of AmericaThey used a pesticide on the terrace (which I assume most places do in the tropics) but they used it even though we had some of our things on the terrace and our door was open.
Breakfast was excellent and we loved eating on our terrace.

United KingdomWe paid a premium as we stayed over NYE but prices are pretty high on Holbox. It would have been great to have a restaurant/ bar but there were plenty near by and you could by a beer from reception. The breakfast was quite small for our family - but they brought extra at no extra cost for the young kids.
The room exceeded our expectations - it was much bigger in real life than the pictures showed. We stayed on the top floor with our two young children. The hotel provided a cot and blow up bed for them - and there was plenty of room for us all. The views from the balcony from this floor were breathtaking - breakfast was delivered each morning (or evening if like us your kids are up early!) Nothing too much trouble for the staff. The place was quiet - and away from the noise of the town but close enough to walk to it.

CanadaThese are personal preferences mostly. Pillows are very high and firm so we put the covers on throw pillows to avoid a sore neck. There are two hooks for wet towels in the bathroom but no place to hang clothing. There is a small set of drawers but, if you're like me and staying a while, it's frustrating to have to leave things in your suitcase. I know hotels like things to look uncluttered, but travellers need some simple hanging rails and/or shelves as well as places to hang-dry wet items. We avoided using the balcony rails out of courtesy but a drying rack or line on the balcony would be really helpful. Also, the lockbox is small (won't fit a laptop) and not bolted to anything. We had no problem with security while there, but the lockbox could easily be carried away if someone wanted to. I'm sure this is easily remedied and just an oversite. And finally, a few more umbrellas on the beautiful beach would be great. Some guests will put their towels out early at the two (sunnier) beachfront umbrella spots - meaning you'll need a blanket for the beach or will be on the loungers a bit back and in the shade. None of this was a big deal as we really enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in "Sol" - a large space with a view of the ocean from the balcony. It was beautiful, clean, quiet, and very enjoyable. We really liked having a kitchen. The 32 stairs (spiral staircase) were well designed so not as hard as you might think to navigate - unless you have a lot of heavy luggage. Breakfast was simple and delicious. Fruit, granola, yogurt, toast, and preserves, delivered around 9am. There is a large jug of water in the suite and some milk provided with breakfast on day 1. Coffee, salt & pepper, and oil for cooking were also provided. Location was more peaceful than being right in town - less unwanted "house" music - and it wasn't a far walk for dinner. You will need your cell phone charged to have a flashlight for late night beach navigation. The beach in front of the property was way less busy and very pretty. The staff at reception (particularly Delfina) was very helpful and conscientious. There are no food and beverage services on site but they gave us a beach bag with some towels upon arrival. The garden in front of the rooms is beautiful and staff works very hard to keep it nice. There is water (a mangrove?) around the perimeter of the building. We expected more mosquitoes (and there are some at night), but the Sol apartment (3rd floor) has screens and they weren't a problem. Overall, it was a really lovely spot.

United States of AmericaNo internet and intermittent reception was a little difficult. Hotel restaurant recommendations were a little out of date. Chapulim was closed. La Sirinita was only ok. Would suggest adding Santos Fuegos which was delicious and is right nearby. More information in English in the room or via WhatsApp app about island history, ecology, and things to do would be very nice.
Beautiful location on quiet part of the beach. Room with two queens was great for a family of three. Enjoyed continental breakfast and coffee from the pot in our room out on the beach each morning. Loved hammocks and shaded lounge chairs.

United States of AmericaI loved that it was set back from the beach and had a jungle feel to it. The fresh fruit and bread breakfast left for us each morning was a highlight to the stay. We loved sitting at our table and chatting before jumping into the day. There was coffee and a coffee maker in the room. They delivered milk with our breakfast to use. Some might not like that there is no WiFi but it helped me disconnect from home in a positive way. We did have cell service though sometimes spotty. The Agua Room was lovely.

GermanyWe were welcomed very warm and our room was upgraded to 2nd floor room with terrace and beach view. I would recommend to book the upper rooms, if possible, sun terrace is definelty a value add. Showers, rooms and kitchen are completly new and in state-of-art conditions so the hotel provided us with everything we needed for our 5 day trip to Holbox, including drinking water from the tab. No issues with mosquitos opposed to our expectations, hotel provides free protection cremes on different station. The private beach area is relatively small, according to size of the hotel. The location is well situated, a bit off from the busy streets but close enough to walk. We really enjoyed our stay

United States of AmericaThe beach was nice, although there was sargassum, and overall the beach did not smell good (mixture of sargassum and sewage problems this island seems to have). That was a huge disappoinment (but nothing that Casa Takywara could really do something about).
We really enjoyed the location, not too far from the center of town, but far enough that the loud music at night did not disturb us. We really enjoyed the intimate feel of Casa Takywara, the garden is gorgeous (but lots of mosquitoes), the lounge chairs are comfy and the breakfast served in a basket every morning was much appreciated! Very quiet and peaceful. The room was large enough for the 3 of us, very clean and comfy.

Austria- we can’t complain at all some reviews mentioned the breakfast, but if you choose a apartment with a kitchenette I am not expecting a huge breakfast buffet - it was a good amount of food of decent quality- so if you want something else, there are plenty of spots in town. and the Wifi is just at the reception- but on this great island you don’t want to miss any time on the internet…
at the beach, which was like a private one - hardly any people there and super clean beach exceptional view at the sea bit further away from the center (~800m walk) which was so great to avoid masses. the janitor, Goyo, was an exceptional nice man! always smiling, singing and helping with any needs and made us feel very welcome! very responsive reception and always trying to help. We had a problem with the whale shark booking and after one hour they figured everything out so that we weren’t charged any extra fees! very customer friendly!
