Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

This was our second stay at Hacienda Xcaret and it was just as wonderful as we remembered! There is a sense of old-world charm throughout the gorgeous property, and the owners are wonderful. Our favorite part was the monkeys in the trees!

CanadaWe liked everything, what we didn’t like was the price of the taxis
Hacienda Xcaret is like an oasis, it’s everything one would want from a dream home. The pictures on booking.com tell the beauty of the place. There are only 5 rooms, 2 downstairs and 3 separate structures in the park like garden. The owner and his family live upstairs. Guest can use all the amenities, kitchen, laundry room, swimming pool, lounge chairs etc. After 5 weeks of traveling we were tired of restaurant food so the ample kitchen was a big plus. There is a breakfast place next to Hacienda Xcaret which make delicious sourdough bread and a dinner place a few houses in the opposite direction. Xcenses park is within a 10 min. walking distance and Xcaret park 15 min. Ideally guest have a car but taxis are readily available or if you are adventurous enough you can walk to the highway (5min.) and hail down a combie like the locals do,(35 pesos) Hacienda Xcaret is approximately 10 min. South of Playa del Carmen.

LatviaFor us it was semi-hard to find the location, but once you’re there, everything’s amazing!
It was an adventure to stay here – in the best possible sense of it. Monkeys were playing around in the yard, the property itself is very very charming and beautiful.

United States of AmericaI suggested the owners make a notebook with FAQs for each room instead of asking them a thousand questions but since they didn't seem to mind the questions then it's a minor issue.
Owners are American expat, and wife who are extremely helpful, generous, and chill. In case you are unfamiliar with a hacienda, the family and pets live on the premises. It is a quiet, relaxing botanical getaway from the crowds, bars, and noise which resorts in the area of Playa Del Carmen are known for. This may be a negative for some people but great for us. If driving, ask owner for directions and follow them exactly! Do not rely of map apps.

United States of AmericaThere was nothing I could point out to and say this was not to my satisfaction. The Hacienda is fully equipped with the necessary toiletries. We'll definitely book again!
We really enjoyed the outdoor porch space with an added Maka . Full of tall palm trees and trees. We even got to see a iguana or could have been a lizard. We left extremely safe due to our security heating tours the Hacienda.

United States of AmericaLiked everything about property. Know that slow traffic between property & Playa del Carmen is a downside to spending more time in town. Hacienda was a great base for exploring beaches & cenotes.
Gorgeous setting, stunning historical character, great host. Two minute walk to breakfast spot (offsite). Embedded in the jungle with monkeys & birds to enjoy. Great spot to while away a lazy afternoon/evening. Room in very good condition, bed comfortable, AC worked well.

United States of AmericaI think it would have been difficult without a car.
Gorgeous quaint property with classic hacienda experience. The pool is very cute and nestled among the greenery. Very relaxing to disconnect (with free wifi reaching the whole property for when you need to reconnect). Our unit had a decent sized kitchenette, and there was a cute bakery/cafe within walking distance. Easy to get anywhere in the area with a car since it's right off of Highway 307. We saw monkeys in the trees nearby.

United States of AmericaNothing! This was truly a magical stay.
This place is magical! It feels like a home away from home, if my home had a beautiful pool, adorable doggies, monkeys nearby, and a super lovely family in it! I wanted a little break from life & booked this stay pretty last minute. They were so accommodating and booked me no problem. I decided to rent a car which I’d recommend for other guests, since you’ll need it to get around // to the grocery // anything else. It’s not really walkable. But driving turned out to be super easy! And i loved how this was away from the buzz of playa del Carmen. It was close enough that I could travel in for certain things but that I could come back to the most peaceful and relaxing home base. I would love to go back!

TurkeyNothing at all. Maybe a breakfast on site would be an improvement but it's not a problem since there is cafe next door with a great breakfast.
The house is AMAZING! Rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. There are snacks and drinks. Skip (the owner) was very friendly and helpful. We felt like home. Location is walking distance to Xcaret parks. Its a bit far from the city but very close to bus stop to the city center. There is no other place I would stay in Playa del Carmen!

United States of AmericaThe property is slightly hidden from the main road, so it can be tricky to find if you don't know where it is. There's also no meals provided or adjacent restaurant or store, so you need to plan ahead. Highly encourage renting a car, although if you don't mind using local transit, the colectivos are easy to navigate. We used those little buses to get up and down the main highway just fine.
The property is gorgeous, comfortable, clean, and relaxing. Rodrigo was there to meet us when we arrived and he gave us excellent recommendations and service and made us feel right at home. Our suite was perfect, and we slept soundly. We loved taking our coffee by the pool in the morning. The amenities of Xcaret, Playa, etc are all relatively nearby. The property is relatively small, so you get the warm comfort of a family-owned, boutique property, which we love. You can contrast that with some of the overly expensive all-inclusive properties down the road. We'll be recommending this place to all our friends that visit the area.
