From the very first minute we arrived, we knew we would spend a great stay there. Georgina has been like a mother to us. We arrived way before the check-in time and yet she did everything to make us settle in our room soon upon our arrival, meanwhile giving us many indications about what to do in Bacalar in terms of visiting and eating/drinking. The breakfast was great, with a variety of options, delicious cooking and fresh tropical fruit. At last, we learned that the owner of the establishment is from Quintana Roo and that she chose all of the decoration herself, which is something because everything is of very good taste, from the color tones to the beautiful flower vases. If by any chance we go back to Bacalar, we'll definitely stay at the Hotel Maria Maria again!

MexicoI didn’t like that we were ask to pay a 50 peso key deposit. At check out, they had no written record and a phone call was made. I overheard “propina” a tip and a chuckle at other end of call. A receipt should be issued if such a deposit is required even if it is just 50 pesos.

United States of AmericaNo fault of the hotel but a power grid went out later in the evening. Didn't impact us much. As we were in for the night and it was lights out time anyway.
Everything about Maria Maria was lovely! Very quaint, and clean. Nice size room with comfortable beds. The hotel was located within walking distance of the lagoon, restaurants and main street shops and park. Geogina and the staff made our staff very pleasant. She and her staff were friendly and attentive. The included breakfast was delicious, and was a full breakfast, including fruit, omelette, avocado toast, served from a menu with several choices. I highly recommend this hotel, for a budget friendly, comfortable hotel. I will stay there on a return visit to Bacalar.

MexicoWe were asked for a $50 peso key deposit at check in. When turning key in, the fellow at the desk had to call to verify. I overheard propina / tip at the other end and a chuckle. I did get the deposit back. A receipt should have been issued if a key deposit is required.

United States of AmericaPreviously when I came to Bacalar, I was able to stay at hotels right on the water. I like swimming in the laguna very much. I didn't like that the hotel was not right on the water. I prefer to be able to go swimming more directly & easily. Also: I prefer to drink organic coffee. If I understand correctly, the coffee at breakfast was not organic. Fortunately it's posible to walk into town to get better quality coffee.
Room was quiet & comfortable. David was very helpful & friendly! I liked that I was relatively nearby the water of the laguna. I also liked that there was a clothesline where I could hang out my clothes to dry.

Our room was very comfortable. It had a great balcony with a partial view of the lagoon. There were lots of choices for breakfast (included), and everything we tried was very good. The best thing of all was Georgina, who provided us with great recommendations and service! The location was just a few blocks from the center of town in a quiet area. We can't wait to go back!!

The property was an easy walk to the town center and to the water. The room was spacious and clean with lovely decor. We had a large balcony and sat on it to watch the sun rise. Breakfast was very good- we had fruit with a spoonful of yogurt and a bit of granola, omelettes with ham and cheese, bread, and juice. It was filling and great tasting. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful with our needs, which were mostly questions or directions.

SwedenThe hotel is centrally located, only a few min to the center and 3 min to the lagoon. Personal and especially Georgina was kind and tried to help with any questions. It's a parking lot on the site. Homemade breakfast with fruits was good. I had another reservation in the hotel for my friend who can't come because of sickness. They didn't charge me even that according to the rules I am supposed to pay a penalty of 1 night stay. Thanks.

CanadaThey need to improve the Internet connection. Very very slow. They changed me to another connection and at least there I wasn't kicked out constantly. On vacation that's fine but if you need to book a flight that doesn't work. Upgrade the modem! Although the room was big enough, there were no cupboards or drawers to hide your little knickknacks.
The staff was super nice, very helpful. I liked the breakfast in the morning. Very close to the Laguna for my daily swim. 2- 3 minute walk? Room was nice and bright. I need to add that they upgraded me to a room with a balcony! I was very pleased about that. The people in Bacalar are very super friendly.

ItalyThe hotel is very close to the city center and to the street where all there are several access points to the beach. The room was big and clean and the staff was super nice and helpful. I recommend you try their breakfast which is super good and included in the stay. Highly recommended if you have a car. If you travel with ADO keep in mind that the ADO station is 20 minutes waking from the hotel so it might be challenging with bags, better to get a taxi to the station.
