Although the mini split kept the room very cool, it dripped all the time, and the breakfast was very basic-not much of a selection.

The room was a good size and very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the balcony was also a nice size.

The rooms themselves are comfortable but nothing spectacular, though I think this is the case for Bacalar generally as it hasn't had the level of hotel development of say a Tulum - which is in itself part of the charm! We loved Bacalar as it felt authentic unlike the rest of the Yucatan which felt like a part of the USA.

We went on our honeymoon and the staff were so kind and upgraded us to a superior room! The hotel is located on a really convenient location just a couple blocks away from the lagoon and the centre of town. The breakfast also is great value for money and you have the option of a traditional or continental breakfast.

We had a balcony "with garden view", but the view was only of the street, and all the barking dogs next door made it not a pleasant place to sit. Also - no fault of the hotel, which was brilliant - loud music in the neighbourhood kept us awake till early morning in one instance, as windows are only screened.

Lovely room, very clean, with comfortable bed, good hot shower, and great Wifi. Breakfast was tasty, and the location was ideal: just a couple of blocks to the water, and to the main square.

We stayed 2 nights in Maria Maria and enjoyed it very much. Rooms are spacious and clean, staff is friendly, breakfast is good, a walking distance from the center, a calm and relaxing atmosphere... All for a good price. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay to enjoy Bacalar.

If I had to say something it is probably that there was a Ventilation window and you couldn’t close it in the bathroom so you could hear others. But it was not too bad.

There were gaps in the door and screen window above the shower so bugs had gotten in the first night. Also woke up to 2 roaches that had come in, although my dad killed them inmediately. There were barely any bugs the second night though.

We loved the air conditioning and fan, the front door windows were cute, and the many locks on it helped us feel safe.

First, all the staff here look unhappy. They seemed they have problems with their own life. Especially the counter lady she never smiles and always looks like she is mad with something. The only time she reacts positive was when I ask whether I can stay one more day, which I didn’t after seeing the room. Secondly, none of us slept well because of the noise at night. Third, the room was humid and the a/c was old. Last, 170$ per night!? Without a swimming pool and it was the smallest two beds compared to other hotels. I guess they set the price towards foreigners, knowing that they don’t have too many other options in Bacalar since I could not see any Mexican tourists in this hotel.

The front of the room to the balcony is one huge wooden door/wall that has slides that can be locked close, so that no light and mosquitos come through. However, due to it not being entirely shut, hot air comes in / cold air goes out rather quickly. We had to keep on the AC throughout the whole night. Since it was raining heavily on the first day, we had one medium-sized cockroach in the bathroom. This can be avoided by covering the shower drain (incidentally the cup for the toilet brush has the perfect size to cover the drain). This only happened once, during the first night. Overall, it was very clean and looked after hotel!

The man at the reception was very helpful and welcoming. The hotel has a perfect location, 3 minutes away from the public beach and city centre (on foot). The room itself was spacious and always cleaned. Also there is a large balcony. A water refilling station is available as well. The breakfast is okay for the price (we got a bowl of fruits with granola and yogurt; a slice of toast with butter and jam; and scrambled eggs with avocado/hash brown).

stairs, no baggage assist, difficult walkways to rooms, no windows in our upper room/ you’ll much prefer spacious lower level, difficulty communicating w Spanish speaking front desk. Louver on doors didn’t close properly causing AC to run often.

There was no window in the room and the breakfast was quite small

It was close to the lagoon and check-in and out went smooth. Good value for money, perfect for 2-3 nights
