Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere is still seaweed on the beach sadly - this is not the hotel's fault and they are doing all they can sustainably to get rid of it, working with a local university and other hotels nearby. The food was great but not as excellent as we remembered it was on our first visit last year.
The customer service is excellent. The grounds are all very well maintained - indoors and outdoors. The pools are super plus the gardens, the kids club is great and the entertainment is very good. There are two 25m lap pools for adults to do training sessions if wanted. The kids water park is super and the choice of food at every meal is large. At night, the warm whirl pools are a lovely treat. The kids club offer great activities especially in the early evening e.g. superhero night, pirate night with a treasure hunt around the hotel grounds. This was our second stay here and we love everything about it.

United States of AmericaThere was only a few waiters that were not enjoyable. Most of the staff is happy and very lovely but there was one grumpy waiter in the buffet and there was a waiter at the pool who kept forgetting our order.
We LOVE Royal Haciendas! This was our 6th trip. It's SO family friendly, the staff is INCREDIBLE! The pools are awesome - we were sad to see the beach being eroded by the water/climate change. But we had a WONDERFUL time as usual!! Thank you!

United States of AmericaIt was not made clear when we reserved our room that this property works as a time share, and Saturdays are their turn-over day. This means that if your reservation falls over a weekend there is a high probability you will need to switch rooms (which we had to). The property makes it very easy, but at the same time it is a bit frustrating to have repack all of your belongings to move. This also resulted in overworked team members on Saturday as there is a mass exodus of guests. Service was also really slow at the pool/beach areas, which was a bit disappointing, and the quality of what we ordered varied significantly. Finally, the beach is beautiful but is not ideal for those who want to swim/snorkel; due to issues with beach erosion there is very little space to swim and enjoy the water without disturbing the coral. We still thoroughly enjoyed our time and would return again, but these aspects might help future guests.
Our stay at the Royal Haciendas was really wonderful all around - our room was splendid and the team members we encountered were all really fantastic! We also really appreciated the caliber of the food at the reservation-based restaurants and the fact that the location was great for day trips to explore Tulum, go snorkeling, etc.

CanadaThe complex is a little bit far from downtown Playa del Carmen and the only way to get there is driving, with their complimentary shuttle or by taxi. But it takes about 15 minutes to get there.
Great staff, very helpful and attentive to all our needs. If you only want to rest, everything you need is there for you and the paid stores inside the complex have very reasonable prices.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast buffet was not great, and the dinner buffet quality was also lacking, definitely go with the other dining options. The bedding could have been a little nicer.
Beautiful property, we stayed in a beachfront unit and enjoyed walking right out onto the beach. Both the Asian and steakhouse restaurants were great! Our concierge was Mychel, he was very attentive and helpful in booking spa appointments and excursions. The pools were clean and perfect temperature, our kids really enjoyed the game room.

The food is great, workers are nice, facilities are clean, very safe. This place is phenomenal for a family vacation. Don’t think twice. Recommend going to Kozumel for a day trip to go snorkeling. You can take the ferry from town. You won’t regret it. Best ocean I’ve ever seen. Also, you MUST go to Xcaret. It’s worth the money.

United KingdomTips were expected every time we went to the restaurant. Being British and having paid for the all inclusive rate, we were not expecting this so by half way through the holiday, we realised that leaving a tip every time was what we should do so we did!
We would definitely recommend this hotel. The customer service was excellent and the facilities were great. Food was really good too with a different themed night for dinner every night e.g. BBQ night, Mexcian night, Asian night. The pools were fantastic with a 25m length pool for adults plus a mini water park for kids plus two larger pools for both kids and adults. The beach was nice with food and drinks served to your sun lounger. Our 2.5 year old toddler loved the Kids Club events in the evening. Plus it's a nice space for a little bit of time out of the sun if you need it!

BelgiumThe ocean front area and the immediate sea were disappointing. With that said, this is/was no fault of the resort -- they kept it clean so our kids could play in the sand without issue. Sargassum and the associated murky water is a problem throughout the Caribbean at the moment. Restaurant reservations are geared toward members, but we could have eaten in both of them at least once if we were more flexible regarding the time of reservation -- six year olds don't eat supper at 20:30. If there was one area of improvement, I'd say it was the front desk. It was an 18 hour journey from Europe and we were exhausted upon check in, there certainly was no rush to get us into our room. That attitude was not appreciated after a long day of travel. A cold beverage when you walk in would be a great idea. 6/10.
Any poor reviews regarding the food are pure nonsense and it was mainly buffet style. I'm extremely discerning when it comes to food and wine. The problem with the food at this resort is the quantity -- it's so good you have to be careful. Lovely local choices, fresh salad, and plenty of less than healthy offering if that's something you enjoy. Excellent Mexican beer, and even the table wine was just fine, and frankly, better than table wine I've had many times throughout Europe. The restaurants were good enough. The pizza place and grills was also quite good. The resort at large was spotless. Pools were fabulously clean and warm. The lap pool was especially appreciated for fitness and our six-year old spent much of his trip in it and a plethora of other activities for kids. Decent tennis courts and they have all the gear. If you are an all inclusive guest it looks like you can borrow whatever you'd like and they have a wide assortment of sports and leisure equipment. I was highly skeptical going in and thought it would be be one big scam, with the sale of timeshare and a dichotomy between members and non members. Not at all. The guys at our pool grill, Moises, Edgar, and Alexis to name a few were fantastic and friendly. Great food, drinks, both with and without alcohol, and instant service. 10/10 Ultimately, this a place for people/families who want to take a couple day trips, (tour packages) in the region and spend the rest of the time by the pool and not have to worry about anything. The nearly free of charge bus into Playa del Carmen was a nice touch. I would not have wanted the Non-All-Inclusive package as the prices on the menu were not cheap. There were no hidden charges. Seven days was enough.
