Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Breakfast was delicious. My room was spotlessly clean. The owner and staff were all great people. It was also a comfortable and quiet place to relax. If I ever return to Windhoek, I will certainly stay here again!

Absolutely nothing negative to say !!
This was our second stay at Maison Ombre. It's very convenient for an overnight stay (or longer) in Windhoek before exploring more of Namibia (such a wonderful country). Beate was a great host, breakfast was excellent, what else can I say. We will certainly stay there again if (or hopefully when) we return to Namibia again. Highly recommend.

The owner is super sweet and helpful. Breakfast was delicious - there is no way you will go hungry. The property was easy to find, and it's gated you you will feel extra safe.

Honestly, nothing!!
Breakfast on the terrace was awesome and Beate was a great host. She even went to the the trouble of finding us a Namibian plug adapter as we only had S. African adapters with us and has a long drive to Etosha, so we didn't want to spend half the day tracking down an electronics store in Windhoek. Also, the property is well located, very secure and the staff were all very friendly. I would highly recommend for any length of stay in Windhoek (and we will be staying again in 3 weeks !!).

My room was right next to the garage/entrance so not ideal for a light sleeper like me as there was quite a bit of noise starting before 7am. But other rooms seemed nice and further away so it was probably just this one. Only other minor thing was that the room could have used a bit more lighting, particularly near the pantry area.
This was a very nice guesthouse tucked into a residential neighbourhood, very quiet and relaxed. The room was clean and comfortable. Beate is very welcoming and accommodating, and provides an amazing breakfast, and while I was there for work I noticed that most guests came for tourism and were getting lots of help and support from Beate and the other staff.

Very nice guest house. Good location in Klein Wdh and top confortable. Beate is wonderfull. The place to go if you look for a very nice place after or before a trip in Namibia.

Friendly and helpful service, clean and tidy premises and rooms, quiet and serene location, close to amenities, well presented breakfast with an assortment of fresh foods, allowance for late check out. We had a lovely stay, thank you!

We did not have a car. We are walkers. When we walked to local establishments and the mall, we were unique in our on-foot approach.
There was something for everyone at breakfast, and the made-to-order eggs and freshly-baked rolls were delicious. The pre-cut fruit had a variety of not-easy-to-find in Namibia treats. The hosts provided the perfect restaurant recommendations. We enjoyed the local food and wine. We appreciated the local tips and attractions. We even had three straight days of in-room massages to truly relax. This is a lovely property off the beaten path and wonderfully quiet.
