Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

He is super friendly and will show you around and what you can't discover from a tourist point of view. The guest house enables you to share some time with others travelers and it's very charming. New ZealandShekhar is a special person that has created a special place for travellers to come together, share and find a likeminded community which this place seems to attract. On arrival I felt immediately at peace as it feels like home and has the best energy. Shekhar is very generous with sharing his time to show guests around the hidden gems of Bhaktapur and knowledge of Nepali and Newari culture. Staying here wasn’t just a place to sleep, it was an experience of getting to really know the city and Nepali way of life. Staying here also reminded me of the important things in life - good company, community, music, spirituality, art, food, learning and exploring. It was one of the highlights of two months travelling Nepal which speaks volumes :)

United KingdomI booked to stay 2 days at Shekhar's and ended up staying 6, so that tells you all you need to know. Shekhar is a wonderful host/local guide, he took us to the best places to eat and showed us around bhaktapur. It is a great place to hang out if that's what you'd like but also great place to chill if you'd prefer to have time to yourself. The whole deco of the place is so homely with little touches from previous guests like all the cool artwork. My room was big with a comfy bed, the shower was warm but most warm in the afternoon as it's solar powered (there is a gas shower available too). The rooftop is a really nice place to chill as well with nice views, and it is so close to dattraya square where I sat and people watched most mornings with a milk tea and papad roll :) if you want an authentic experience of bhaktapur I really can't recommend this place enough.

ChinaEverything was great, nothing I can complain about!
Shekhar and his place were fantastic. Though my room was on the small side it was perfect for my needs. It was clean and comfortable and I was made to feel at home. I stayed for about a week and was welcomed into Shekhar's world, including the local music scene and seeing a different, more vibrant, side to Bhaktapur than I had experienced during a previous 2 day visit. Shekhar rented me a mountain bike at a very reasonable price and went out of his way to make me feel comfortable.

GermanyStayed at Shekhar’s shared home for a week & it did not disappoint! Such a lovely share home right in the centre of the old town so it’s so convenient to go anywhere in the city by foot. Dattraya square is on the doorstep which is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning tea. The host, Shekhar, is so knowledgeable about Bhaktapur and all things to do & see in the area. Super chill vibes in the share home & a really nice space to relax. I hope to come back someday! 😊

SpainShekhar is a great host who welcomes you with great hospitality and kindness. We felt very lucky to meet him as he understood well what we liked to do and see. He gave us great recommendations and brought us to some of his favourite spots. We had a really wonderful experience in Bhaktapur because of him. We 100% recommend staying at Shekhar's house. You won't find a better way to learn about Baktaphur and its cultural heritage.

What an incredibly nice stay I had! It is really a shared home and I felt like home. One of my best stays in Nepal! Shekar the owner is kind, friendly and funny. He showed me the city and the beautiful local places, it was such a nice experience! The rooftop is pretty and the common room was nice to hang out with Shekhar and the other traveler. It was quite at night and during the day because of the location but you are in the middle of the city centre!

RomaniaSecond time in Nepal I choose to stay at Shekar, had the opportunity to see new rooms, in an more local Newari style attached to the main house, and got a nice cozy room. Friendliness and help of Shekar and his familly always make me fell at home. I'll always come back here when in Nepal! (P.S. Ask Shekar mother for Dhal bhat, best home made taste in all Nepal.)

United KingdomNice, clean rooms. Shared kitchen is great also as they aren't too common in Nepal I feel. The atmosphere with it being private rooms in a shared communal space is great, friendly and communal so you chat with other guests but you have more privacy and is generally a bit more relaxed than in a hostel. Shekhar is a great host who will show you local food and culture also! Highlights - rooftop fire night and watching the world cup match + what might be the coldest beer I've ever had!

Shekhar, your host, is really making an effort here to create and maintain a good place in Bhaktapur, great for travellers that want to connect but also find a place to relax. He helped me book a bus to Pokhara, also helped me with my entry ticket to Bhaktapur and picked me up with my bag with a motorbike to get to the place. I had a problem to get back from Nagarkot to Bhaktapur and he offered me to pick me up. I was able to get back by bus but it was a nice gesture to be offered help. thanks for all it was a really nice stay and time.
