Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The bathroom was a bit small, but had everything needed.
Rose the owner was very helpful. She booked water taxi tickets for us and gave us good advice about what to see and do in the area. Convenient location close to restaurants, shop etc in Marahau, sea front and start of Abel Tasman track. Beautiful view from our chalet and nice outdoor seating area. We were able to get our washing done.

Initial contact with Ross was very disappointing. She was rude and antagonistic because we arrived slightly early to pay for the booking. It set a bad tone for the weekend unfortunately. She did lighten up the next day after we tried to be kind to her in return.

Nothing except the weather but they desperately needed the rain.
Great location next to the water taxis and access into the National Park. Small but had everything we needed and immaculately clean.

Nothing at all except the weather at the end.
You come down a stunning tree lined driveway. Chalets are super clean and comfortable and, while small, have everything you need in them. Location is ideal for Abel Tasman Park access and Rose stored our car while we walked in the park.

Nothing bad to say. We would stay here again if in the area !
Owner was very sweet and knowledgeable about the area. The private cabin was very clean and had extra blankets and heater as we got into fall season it was getting a little cold overnight. Very close to the Abel Tasman park so that was convenient for our hikes and boat excursions.

Wifi was a bit flakey.
A delightful chalet looking towards the hills. Not overlooked by anybody and a veranda to sit on. Also a very pleasant and helpful host.

We couldn't work the TV some instructions would be good.
Great location for the Abel Tasman trail and the aqua taxi right next door. Lovely hostess and the unit had everything initially and so clean and tidy. A nice restaurant in walking distance did great pizzas. Would definitely come back here.

Sink in bathroom very small so was great to have use of a kitchen sink. Really would have liked a ceiling fan or screen on front door to leave open at night as it was very hot in cabin.
Great location. Next door to Abel Tasman water taxis. Easy to find. Very friendly owner. Well equipped for basic accommodation

We had the most wonderful stay at the chalet - in fact, it was too short a stay! The location was ideal. The chalet has everything you can need, and it is extremely comfortable. It's such a friendly vibe too. Absolutely would recommend and would love to return. My favourite was sitting on the deck reading and playing card games. It was so peaceful and beautiful.

Extremely clean room equipped with everything we needed before heading onto the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Close to Aqua Taxis, Mārahau track entrance, cafés, bars and an excellent fish n chip truck which our friendly host Rose pointed us in the direction of.

Very spacious and well equipped cabin. Had everything we needed. Loved the fly screens! Lovely quiet spot but also very close to the main part of Marahau. Was super handy to grab the water taxi next door in the morning. Would definitely stay again!

Cute little cottage only a few yards from the beach. Convenient to the two restaurants and one general store. Within walking distance of the park and the beach. We loved the place and highly recommend it if you’re going to be in the area. Beautiful, peaceful solitude.
