Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing of importance. TV signal didn’t work but the host, Peter, organised a technician to visit on a Sunday to try and sort it out.
Wow. Amazing apartment with lovely views captured by nearly all windows in the apartment.

United KingdomIn very hot weather the lack of air conditioning makes it necessary to have everything open.
The rooms and view are fantastic. Location is lovely and far enough off the beaten track to feel separated and quiet. Opua is much quieter than Paihia and is a 20 min walk. Paihia is a lovely 90 min walk (but do avoid high tide for the last 2km into Paihia unless you’re happy to paddle!). We intentionally didn’t have a hire car and it suited us perfectly.

New ZealandThere was no privacy. We didn’t like being interrupted by the owner throughout our stay. It was unnerving. He came into our space no less than 6 times!! for no reason. He never knocked or announced his intention to come into our space, he just turned up. We felt like he was spying on us. He even creeped up the stairs at 9pm in his pyjamas I was on my own in the lounge and got a huge fright to see him standing there in the dark. He didn’t say anything just stood there. I don’t recommend this place.
the property was set in an idyllic location. You couldn’t fault the location and even on a rainy day the view were exceptional

United KingdomThe bathroom needs significant updating, and I would expect a cooked breakfast to the per night rate. It's not great value for money. Didn't like sharing a large table at breakfast espeically as the other guests had come straight off a cruise ship. Covid is still real, and for those who are still cautious, being that close to others at breakfast isn't great. Feather pillows were lovely for me, but my sister is asthmatic, so a choice would have been good.
The view was astounding.. even in the rain. The guest area was very comfortable and well equipped. The towels were huge and fluffy and the bed was so comfortable.

New ZealandLocation was great - fabulous 180deg inlet/sea views. Loved the fresh fruit for breakfast, pineapple, kiwifruit, banana, rhubarb etc., with yoghurt, all bran and toasted muesli. Peter did great poached eggs. There is a good nespresso machine that is available for use, and always fresh fruit any time of day. The lounge upstairs is beautiful with amazing views.

AustraliaWe felt really welcome in Peter’s home. The home is absolutely stunning and immaculate and the views are unparalleled. One of the coolest places we have ever stayed. Peter is a very interesting guy and looks just like Paul Newman. Wish we could have heard more stories from him as it sounds like he has had a very interesting life.

New ZealandNothing. Would have loved to have stayed longer!
Exceptional, generous, breakfast. Cereals, fruits, coconut yoghurt, ham, cheese, croissants, toast and plenty of coffee/tea. View from the room was fantastic - all we could have wanted. Gracious host (Peter) who made us feel welcome. Dinner was a special treat, exceptional cooking with fresh ingredients and worth the money. Wines were included in the dinner cost.

New ZealandThe owner said he hates having people there and regretfully does it for the money. Another thing, the photos show a spa pool.. myfault as i assumed its part of the property. Its not. it's not listed in the amenities but I find that picture very misleading and that photo should be removed.
The owner asked us to leave twice in the first 5 minutes
