Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaMaybe a touch of protein with breakfast would have helped. It was a lot of sugar! But this might be a cultural thing since we are not kiwis.
Loved that this is a functional dovecote with gorgeous, pure white doves sunning on the roof in the late afternoon. Just magical. A close walk to the ocean. Nathan and Tim were great hosts. The cats were also very sweet!

United States of AmericaI personally liked everything. But if you wanted to rush about seeing everything in Auckland, the location is not super central for that. To me that was part of the charm.
Nathan is truly the host with the most. He is a massage therapist who makes his own jams and honey and just absolutely is the perfect anecdote to a LONG plane ride, as he pampers guests or leaves them to their peace as the guests wish. He and his very kind partner, Tim, have a hot tub on the facility and the garden (Nathan was a landscaper in his past life too!) is utterly gorgeous and full of doves. The property is in a beautiful location near the water and a secluded and quiet park. I was traveling alone to see my daughter in Wanaka and tour the South Islands with her, so I did not have big aspirations of touring Auckland like mad and was very content and happy in Dovecote’s sweet, pretty area. The hosts are wonderful cooks. There’s a great claw foot tub. I mean, if you want to unwind, this is the place for you. Tim and Nathan will even fetch you from the airport and bring you back. They’re just lovely.

ItalyThe bathroom is shared but well advertised before booking, and the couple I met there was super respectful and nice.
Nathan and Tim are amazing, the house is cozy and there is a family atmosphere. I wish I could have stayed longer.

New ZealandBest stay you could ask for 10/10! . The hosts Nathan and Tim encouraged me to relax and take a soak in their beautiful claw foot tub while I waited for my boyfriend. They even gave me bath salts. They provide gorgeous goodie bags that supports the brand forest and bird. The bed was comfortable and cosy and the breakfast was 5 stars with home made preserves, muesli and bread. We ate like kings. They invited us to their local market where they sell their wares. We will be back for sure! Thanks guys Xx

AustraliaThe breakfast was exceptional - homemade bread, granola and preserves. Vast selection of teas or coffee. There are many walks in the parks and along the coast which are very easily accessible from the house. Very quiet setting, beautiful gardens, delicious dinner available with the hosts by arrangement.

MacauThe room is very small. I also found a bug on my bed. need to share bathroom with another guest and it wasn't very convenient. The host was nice apart from trying to ask guests to consume as much as possible and not telling the guest about the price in advance (for example, printing is 2.5 nzd per paper). The host picked me up from the airport (which was nice of him) and it was 60 dollars (due to late arrival of my baggage the host returned to his property once and came to airport again so it was counted as two rides = 60 dollars). If you check out on time at 10am, and you wish to stay in the property just to wait for flight, you need to pay late checkout fees 100 Dollars. All in all, with this price it really doesn't worth it. Feeling ripped off after the stay. So I messaged the host and provided feedback, But as expected, the host didn't feel anything wrong and accused me of expecting everything to be free. I paid 112.5 dollars before I left for everything I used. Didn't know why he would feel that. But If you don't care about the potential fees incurred anytime When you use anything, and doesn't mind small room and sharing bathroom with others, It's good to choose this.
The property is nicely decorated. The breakfast was nice and homemade bread was tasty.
