Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Our bed unfortunately sunk to the middle quite badly, so we didn't get a great sleep as we felt as though we were sliding down and into each other.
It was a really large and comfortable room for a family of 4. Everything we needed was there. The shower was nice and hot and a strong water flow. It seemed to be a fairly quiet area. The owners/managers we a pleasure to deal with and really helpful.

The man from the office was really grumpy just because I arrived 30 min after the time I said by phone during the day when I called to advise I will arrive at 8pm . He didn’t get consideration about I was travel with my 2 kids . Made me felt very uncomfortable after drove 3 hrs after work and traffic.

The crying baby in the daycare centre next door was a bit upsetting. A draining rack would have been helpful when washing dishes. It was a bit difficult getting into the wardrobe.
The property bright and airy. It was very comfortable and close to everything we needed. Our hosts, Carol and Bob were very knowledgeable about the district and willing to help meet our needs.

Our unit was next to a main road on the second floor, making it very noisy from constant traffic.
Comfortable bed. Friendly, helpful host. Short drive to city and sights.

The location was on a major artery into downtown and was noisy.
The hotel was older but was kept clean. Beds and linens were clean and comfortable. The owner prepped the BBQ for us to use. The grocery shops were close.

The shelf holding the microwave had an extremely sharp corner. My husband caught his head on it. It would be better tounded.
My husband appreciated tge loan of a cushion for 5 days as the druver's seat of the rental car was very liw.

It was near a busy road which was loud at times. There was a rather large steep up into the shower which would possibly be difficult for an older person.
It was very central for all the places we like to visit on holiday. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The motel was very clean and the beds are very comfy.

Within 30 seconds of checking in, the staff member was chastising me for reserving the room through Booking.com, rather than directly through the website at a better rate. If you don't like the online platform mate, don't list your property on there? The next classic comment was after I told him I was staying the night on my way up to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. "Why would you want to do that?" Because it's an important kaupapa for Aotearoa as a whole? Just a thought, but thanks for the casual racism. The icing on the cake was handing me the WiFi password with the comment "because you'll probably be on your phone all night". Sorry, but no - I'm a 37 year old professional on a work trip mate - not a 12 year old making Tik Toks. Nice facilities, but a "welcome" that needs a lot of work. Won't be back in a hurry.
Facilities were good, and walking distance to two supermarkets and restaurants/takeaways. My room was very clean and tidy, kitchenette was well-equipped, air con was a real bonus.

The motel is right next to the highway so for someone sensitive to noise it was understandably noticeable. But with the windows and doors closed plus earplugs at night it's not too bad.
Location is quite handy, management is very thoughtful about where the cars are parked for everyone's safety and convinience. The manager also allowed us to check in a bit early because our plan had changed. Very big beds.

Towels are quite old in condition when comparing to other motels/hotels.
It was so good to have an airconed room in a hot day. The room is large in size and it has a nice garden courtyard in the back.
