I just love wooden houses. Especially when they come with a pool. And in a tranquil, peaceful, and picturesque part of town. The owners, Fiona and Marcus were always at my disposal but never imposing on me. I appreciated the tasty breakfast and I am much obliged for the car ride to the airport, free of charge. PS What really bought me was the statue of three adorable dogs at the entrance. I also travell with my dog, albeit a plush one. We have visited over 70 countries together. And counting...

Fiona was most helpful as we did not have a car. Drove us to a great suggested restaurant and picked us up after our meal. Even drove us to our car rental next morning. The gesture most appreciated and rateful.

Fiona is such a lovely and helpful host! She contacted me earlier to confirm the check-in time and giving me all the necessary instructions/information regarding to the parking and check-in as I was expected to arrive late at night. The house is clean and tidy will all the necessities provided. Room and bed is very comfortable. Toilet and shower room are clean and functioning well. Fiona even confirm the breakfast time with me the day before to ensure the breakfast served on-time, heaps of fruits available. Location wise was not an issue for me as I wasn't looking to stay close to the city and I was driving, they just meeting all my needs! Love my stay!

That area of Christchurch really assumes that everyone has a car, which I didn't.

The hosts were very helpful, even to the point of taking me to the train station. The place is somewhat outside the central city, but I was able to get there by bus quite easily. There's an excellent pub about a kilometer away. The room was quiet, looked out on a garden and had everything I needed, done in the usual, immaculate New Zealand style.

There was nothing to dislike!

The most remarkable thing about our stay at Traveller's Retreat was the genuine, caring nature of Fiona and Marcus!! My wife and I had a particularly disturbing interaction with a local campervan provider that left us without a campervan for our two weeks in the South Island. With their help we were able to secure a campervan from another company and avoided a situation that would have spoiled a good deal of our holiday plans. We really don't know what we would have done without their generous and thoughtful support!! The rooms were very clean and comfortable! The common area was spacious and inviting with a large, beautiful aquarium as a peaceful focal point. The breakfast had everything we wanted; fruit: cantaloupe (rockmelon), fresh apricots, oranges, and bananas. Fiona also provided 3 kinds of cereal and some delicious whole-grain toast with honey and mixed-berry preserves. Fresh coffee and tea were also served.

Bathroom was a bit worn and very tiny. There was no space to put your stuff. The object is quite far from the city centre. Cash only payment.

The room was quite comfortable and clean. It had all neccessary things. It wasn't too big but enough for a couple and for short stay when you don't need to spend much time inside. In general it was good.
