Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Not enough toilets or showers, often had to queue. Hostel felt like it was in a slightly rough area of town. Lift was broken and looked like it had been for a long time. Room not very clean - there was a mouldy pack of Tim Tams on the windowsill and the small bin was often overflowing.
Big communal kitchen with plenty of equipment and appliances, and lots of tables to eat. Beds were comfortable and had a curtain for privacy. Each bed had a lamp and charging points. There were two lockers per person in the room (one under the bed and one smaller one) that you locked with your own padlock. WiFi worked well.

In the room I slept in, there was one half-open window which you could neither open further nor close. This was a little annoying. From my point of view, the hostel was a bit too expensive.
The kitchen is the best kitchen I’ve ever seen in a hostel! You can also find herbs, spices, oil, … there which makes cooking very easy and comfortable. In addition, the bathrooms are clean and nice. Haka House isn’t located directly in the city center of Auckland but still it has a very good location and you can visit a lot of places by walking there.

I‘ve stayed in a few different hostels in Auckland but the Haka House is the best. It‘s modern, clean and in a central location. The facilities are new, the rooms have lockers and there’s a power outlet for each bed and inside the locker. Spacious kitchen and lounge room. The staff is very nice. Would definitely come back.

A bit loud due to the doors and some intoxicated persons outside the building, because k-route is close. No party in the hostel though (+). And loudly closing dorm rooms.

The beds were very comfy. There was a TV, Fridge, Kettle and Hair dryer available for use in the room. The bathrooms are shared but nice and clean and very close to the rooms.

Mum had trouble sleeping because of the noise outside, this was nothing to do with the accomodation though, just not used to so much street noise from a big city on a Saturday night, i slept well.
I think the room was actually nicer than the photos on the website, so i was pleasantly surprised, the bathroom was nice, the parking was handy and the girl on the front desk was lovely and helpful.

One of our rooms hadn't been cleaned properly, still had the previous occupients shaving/showering items in the shower. Staff did apologise when mentioned. Bathroom fan was broken. Empty shampoo bottles. The fan only blew the hot air around the room instead of cooling. The lift was broken.

Was put in the wrong room twice and staff seemed to not care too much about that

The parks - I paid for parking and couldn't use it due to another guest not leaving enough space. The parks were not assigned and staff don't collect licensed plate numbers so there was really no way to correct the problem, and the parking was not monitored. That being said I got a refund immediately and it all worked out
Very comfy clean bed and room. Professional staff (I was sleepy and grumpy and was dealt with kindness and speed which I appreciate)

There is a long uphill road to arrive Haka House . The room has no headlights, only its own bedside lamp to use

I booked an all-female dormitory, and there were multiple men in my room, which was a bit uncomfortable.
