Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyNot a bad thing but as an information: the rooms are located on a hill and you need to walk up some stairs to get there. But Gino will bring your luggage up with the car;)
Nice Room with great view! The common area is also lovely with a swimming pool, bar and a pool table. Breakfast was delicious. Gino was very friendly and helpful with tips for activities and the area.

United States of AmericaWe booked very last minute but were happily surprised by Sol y Mar. It is a little out of town, and on a steep hill, but it is just worth it. You have a nice breeze in the jungle and the rooms were generally private and clean. The breakfast was lovely and way better than expected. Gino was the best host and made us feel like old friends. If you have babies or toddlers, be aware that there are lots of steps, and railings were not present on many of the porches.

LatviaMaybe warm water will be nice, but like it is in jungle we can live without it.
Host Gino was amazing. Stay at this place was like you come to old friend for weekend. Gino not only helps to feel comfortable, but also organize tours. Breakfast was tasty and enough. When you go there you must understand that you will stay in jungle and all service what you will get be as good as it can be in jungle. Also climbing up to hill for some one can be challenging, but for us it was benefit, because we can see amazing view from top. I recommend this place.

United States of AmericaIt was fantastic- the food is so amazing, the pool is lovely, the staff are fantastic and Gino was an amazing host. There is a tree top view, the only thing you have to be aware of is that is is a steep climb to the rooms so you have to be able to hike up a hill. It is a quick walk into town. We loved it and highly reccomend.

South AfricaVery steep driveway in need of maintenance. No TV in the room and No wifi inside the room (only available at the restaurant). No glasses or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. A small bar fridge with some ice in it would have been most welcome too.
Location, positive attitude of management and his attention to customer care. Large spacious room.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom was pretty old and had some mildew around the sink which made it feel not very clean - probably time for a remodel. The hotel comes with breakfast included, which is great, but there was only one person serving breakfast and it was quite busy so it was hard to get a coffee refill and service was a bit slow. Putting a self-serve coffee on the bar would help out the staff and guests a lot!
The view from this hotel is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful and lush with a lot of birds and of course a resident rooster. The hotel is located at the entrance to the village and up a very steep hill. We did not have 4-wheel drive so we parked at the bottom and hiked the stairs, which was fine for our family but may not work well for some who may want 4WD to park up higher. The pool was a great place to relax around sunset. The restaurant is also quite good. The room we stayed in was plenty big enough and we appreciated having a couch area and sleeping area. The property just sold and we had most of our interactions with the former owner and the manager. They were both awesome, enthusiastic and conversational. They helped us set up a tour to Isla Coiba, which was spectacular, but I would recommend asking around to find a reputable guide that speaks English and will actually provide more of a “tour.”
