To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

United States of AmericaAfter hiking the Inca Trail our group wanted to all shower, but we ran out of hot water sooner than we liked. The corridors and lobby were cold, but the heater in the rooms were nice.
The property is very clean. The staff was extremely helpful and getting us settled after hiking the Inca Trail. The staff helped us get food before is closed since we arrive later than expected.

United States of AmericaThe only slight downside were the barking dogs in the middle of the night outside our second story room window. Very difficult to control, and very minor.
The staff was excellent! The front desk was so helpful with luggage storage, calling cabs, giving directions and help/questions.

United States of AmericaThe hotel was quite noisy. There was a band that played from midnight to 3 am our first night and loud stray dogs barking. The next couple of nights were better. I was also disappointed when we got there and told them we only needed one room, it had a king bed and two twins and we were a family of 5 with the 3 of which being small children. We obviously preferred to stay as a family and not split up. They would not refund me in anyway, even though we did need the 2nd room. Sometimes it is about doing what is right for the customer. Also, no complimentary waters to even brush your teeth in the rooms, would be a nice thing since you can’t drink the water.
The property was very clean, comfortable beds and large. The staff was very kind and responsive. The location was fine for pick-ups for different tours. It is a cab ride to the city center.
