This is a beautiful boutique hotel with fewer than 15 suites. I stayed in the Lakehouse Suite, which might be the best accommodation I have ever enjoyed in my many travels (and I've stayed at dozens of high end hotels). If you can get this two-level room set apart from the other buildings and right on the water, do so! I have not seen the other suites, but I can tell you that the property is georgous and serene. If you prefer unique hotels that don't require you to walk down hallways occupied by a hundred quests or more, the Douro Suites will make you happy. There is one disadvantage, and it is that there is no entertainment or restaurant nearby. You can get a nice dinner delivered to your room, or you can travel 10-25 minutes to a restaurant. Yet, that disadvantage is also an attraction, because it means there are no crowds, traffic, or noise to be seen or heard. You want peace and quiet? You want to hear birds and little else? Consider this property. Furhtermore, the car ride through the countryside to visit a winery made for one of the better days of my two-week trip. You step back in time when you drive in this beautiful countyside,

The property is absolutely stunning. The surroundings are beautiful, right by the river, and the outdoor pool is wonderful with an infinity pool. The hotel is beautifully designed, immaculate and it felt like a luxurious stay. All of the staff were extremely nice and polite and the owners also! We would not hesitate to come back. It’s perfect as a longer stay or as a short break. Some watersport options too by the river which are very fun!

No downsides. The only thing is that they dont have a restaurant but we ended up eating at the hotel next door which was great

The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way for us! We came really unorganized and with no plans, they helped us find a vineyard nearby for a last minute wine tour that was spectacular and beautiful! Beyond the majestic location and view, the place was spotless clean.

The Douro Suites are superb and we have really enjoyed our two night stay here. The view over the river and valley is fabulous and sitting on the balcony in the evening with a gin and tonic in hand comes close to holiday perfection. The room is excellent with a comfortable bed. The shower and bathroom is really good and well designed. Breakfast is at an additional cost and it’s lovely, with a great choice. The members of staff are really pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Even when trying to be nitpicky we can't find even minor problems.

Fabulous welcoming by friendly and helpful staff. We were lucky to be proposed a free upgrade to their suite which was an absolutely beautiful accommodation wtih Jacuzzi, Terasse and all. The Douro Suites' garden peaceful garden, library blend perfectly with the stunning river & region itself.

Fantastic stay for the perfect getaway. The location is absolutely amazing, rooms super clean and staff very kind, especially Carla who was there during our stay! We originally booked 2 nights but the experience was so great we decided to extend for another night. Highly recommended.

Coffee capsules are in the room, but the room service menu claims you have to pay for them. It's very minor, but just seems unnecessary.

The location is truly beautiful and secluded, but still easy to reach. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The breakfast buffet is very nice, and the staff had good recommendations for spots for dinner. Note these will all require at least a 10m drive.

Nothing! It is worth noting that it is not in the midst of all the Quintas where you would go for port and wine tastings.

The location right on the river was amazing. The property itself is luxurious and designed to make sure you do nothing but relax. The rooms were so well appointed that it was hard to leave them. The property itself is filled with little places designed to make you simply stop and take it all in. There was no restaurant nearby for dinner, but the very reasonably priced charcuterie board that we ordered from the room service menu was delicious. Had we stayed more than a single night we would have tried their other options for sure. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We loved this hotel!

We were not using at all the hot bath inside our room, we think it is redundant, and he had a little difficulty finding the reception, but we founded it at last.

Excellent! A wonderful hotel right on the banks of the Douro River. The suits are comfortable and well equipped. We were looked after by the very friendly staff - Carla, Tamiä, Silvia and the kitchen staff. Always a smile and very helpful. The hotel has been designed in a very tastefully manner and with greatest love for detail. Just beautiful! The breakfast buffet had a wide selection of freshly prepared foods and is very beautifully decorated. The picnic basket is a must! A wonderful place to unwind, relax and enjoy. The location was perfect! The view breathtaking. Very peaceful and quiet. There was good AC in the rooms for the hot days of summer. Although there is no restaurant, there is the option of requesting baskets with a complete full meal, that we can choose to have it in the room or in the garden. A genius idea, perfect for the place.
