Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalBreakfast could include some protein (eggs for instance). The stairs for the first floor are all black which make it difficult to see even with some lights. The amenities in the room (shower gel for instance) were missing and the soap was impossible to open. I would prefer a more hard mattress but it was ok and comfortable. Additional pillows would have been welcome.
Overall environment and staff kindness and friendliness. Room was ok and good value for money. The monastery is amazing and a very special place.

PortugalDidn't like the pillow. Maybe there are alternatives at the reception. Following the GPS doesn't work very well. Better to follow the main road to Mire de Tibaes and then the road straight to the Monastery.
Excellent stay just 10min from Braga in a fantastic monastery. The place has less than 20 rooms and the hotel takes only a small part of the old monastery. The monastery was recently recovered and worth a visit - free for hotel guests. The hotel renovation is amazing and everywhere you look you notice the attention to detail by the architect. As a bonus, the monastery as large farm and gardens that are excellent for a walk.

PortugalWe didn't expect it to be a museum with an absolutely stunning huge garden where we spent the whole morning the next day after arrival. We had booked just an ordinary hotel, and what we got instead exceeded the bravest expectations of ours! The modern design of the room after restauration of the convent is in true harmony with the ancient arquitecture and the idea of asceticism of the monks, though quite comfortable and cozy. A tour around the old monastery after breakfast was very interesting, and the long walk around the gardens with lakes and sanctuary was just breathtaking and extreemely engaging. We even cancelled our further plans for the sake of the longer stay in this amazing place. Thank you Braga and the hotel owners for this wonderful pleasant surprise which made our day!

PortugalBreakfast was merely acceptable. The air conditioner did not work... Not that it didn't work properly, it did not work at all, and the room got extremely hot.
The visit to the monastery, which is included in the stay.

United States of AmericaThe monastery is a beautiful retreat and holy place with a great staff and on the grounds of a national historic site with accessible grounds and access to the church. Was pleased with the quiet time spent there. Its not a commercial site

United KingdomIts about 15min drive away from braga so would definitely suggest hiring a car or it's about 11 euro taxi fare one way. We was lucky enough to have a hire car
The staff was amazing and so helpful. Our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels. The breakfast was lovely too. Beautiful place to stay

United States of AmericaThe hotel is inside a monastery. It is difficult to find from lack of signage. Upon entering the small room, large wooden shutters concealed the window (actually a large open area). With no actual window, just an open area leading outside, the room is filled with sunlight, bugs (lots of spiders) and noise entering directly into the room. The room does contain a sliding glass door, but when closed there is no air flow from outside. The walls are dirty, peeling paint and plenty of black marks. The private bathroom is surrounded by clear glass without a privacy screen or shading. If you are alone, probably ok. If sharing a room, plan to entertain you spouse, partner or friend. Like going to the bathroom outside in the woods and catching an eye of someone cooking by the campfire. During our stay, the air conditioning was not working properly in our room. Close to 26 Celsius, over 78 degrees. Even with several visits by the nice reception staff member, no solutions were provided. Found out when leaving that the system is designed to cool the room with water from the roof. Didn’t work that night. Without air in the room, we were forced to sleep with the window open all night long to get some airflow in the room. This amplified the noise and conversations of other quests arriving back at night and allowed plenty of additional spiders to enter the room. For those with outdoor allergies, not a great night’s sleep. In the morning we were treated to a refreshing shower utilizing an orange plastic garden hose handheld shower-head that reminded me of showering in an RV. Once again, because of the lack of privacy in the room, prepare to entertain your party while showering with the glass enclosure. What doesn’t make sense is that online the hotel is a 4-star property with a 9+ rating. No way this rating is accurate. Though unique, because it is in an old monastery. That does not make it a 4-star hotel. No restaurant, limited services and rooms lacking charm.
First the good news. The property has a pleasant staff, hot water and electricity. Now the rest.

United States of AmericaRestaurant was not open the day we were there, so we travelled into town to buy food at a local store
This is not a typical hotel. A monk’s cell in a former monastery has been converted into a modern hotel room with WIFI. Behind a glass partition, you can see the stone window seat where a monk would have worked by daylight hundreds of years ago. The bathroom wall is glass, so light from the bathroom illuminates the rest of the room—there is a curtain, though, if privacy is desired. All in all a unique experience.

Liked the contrast of the white modern rooms in the old monastery. Very easy to reach from Braga. Loved the scenery. I would definitely recommend this property above a city hotel.
