Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumAlthough it looked like a little village and it was pretty, the walls of the rooms are very thin. We woke up pretty early because of talking people outside and we heard it very clearly. Nevertheless a nice place to stop for a night!
The views at Kivu Macheo lodge were beautiful! The staff was very friendly, always there to help and can cook very well! We had the best agatogo and sambaza there!

RwandaThe menu is a bit confusing but it's doable
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kivu Macheo, which is nestled by the serene shores of Macheo . My experience was nothing short of exceptional. The location itself is a true gem. The hotel is surrounded by lush greenery, and you wake up to the soothing sounds of water gently lapping against the shore. The view from my room was absolutely breathtaking, with the lake stretching out as far as the eye could see. The staff at Lakeside Inn went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. They were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any request. The rooms were clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, providing a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. One of the highlights of my stay was dining at the hotel's lakeside restaurant. The food was outstanding, and I couldn't get enough of the fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Watching the sunset over the lake while enjoying a delicious meal was a truly magical experience. The hotel also offers various recreational activities, from water sports to nature walks, making it perfect for both relaxation and adventure seekers. If you're looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway by the lake, I highly recommend the Kivu Macheo. It's a hidden paradise that offers an unforgettable experience, and I can't wait to return.

BelgiumNot only no warm water, no running tapwater either. Trying to wash oneself out of a Jerrycan was not on our preference list. We did not receive any compensation either as they claimed it was a problem out of their reach.

New ZealandI booked the tent - but it was the middle of the rainy season - so it got flooded… but they moved me into one of the cabins for no extra cost, and the service from that was AMAZING!
The wifi, the facilities, the view, the whole area was AMAZING! The food was also really good, great dinner menu as well! And the host was super lovely, although didn’t know heaps of English, you made it work.

This place has no downsides. The lodge is on a hill and offers a great view of the eastern side of Lake Kivu, and just 100m away from the lodge, there's a view of the western part of the lake. The staff is lovely, it's a peaceful location away from traffic, and the cuisine includes delicious local dishes.

South AfricaSleep with your raincoat as the room's roof isn't waterproof during heavy rain. Bathroom is stinky. Value for money is low but that's a global problem in rwanda when you are not in the high end tourism industry.

IndiaThe hotel is on the very top of the hill, but it is Rwanda, so 🤷 It was also not that easy to find it. The road up to the hill was not that good and the hotel doesn't have a proper parking place. So a bit tricky if you drive. But it was not that critical
We booked a room with four beds, simply because there was no other option in booking. Luckily we were put in a bungalow just with one big bed and it was perfect. It was very simple and very cosy. Breakfast was nice, they even tried to make it a bit different every morning (at least with different fruits). The stuff was extremely friendly and helpful. the highlight of our stay was our travel to islands with Honour. He organised a great tour for us. I really do recommend 😊
