Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI honestly think this might be the nicest place I ever stayed in all my many years of budget travelling..! I was at a perfectly fine cheapie nearby (for me this is definitely the lovelier part of Ta Van village, quieter than the main road part near the bridge, and with very nice cafes just round the corner) but for more or less the same money I moved here because there's so much cozy hanging out space: a kitchen you can use, living room with pool table, nice garden terrace, and the private rooms felt luxurious for the price, comfy & with great views. I could see the dorm was similar to everywhere else I saw in the area, but because of all the homely hanging out space it seemed a much better deal than other places. Free filtered water too, & Nam was very helpful with anything I needed like help with my train booking. It really felt like staying in a lovely cozy home!

United Kingdom- electrics are a bit dodgey around the bathroom. Few people got electric shocks from the light switches, really put people on edge - lots of ants around - could use the kitchen but didn’t look the cleanest of spaces - walls really thin, can hear any noise people make all around you. Woke up by people above walking around - need better curtains on the windows if have light on a night people can see straight in - paid for a river view, was literally a view of the pond out front and couldnt really see that much of it - their dog isn’t a people person, don’t blame it but just be aware will bark a lot - pretty much all the showers had broke, only one with an actual stand to hold it up
- very cute stay, nice room, big beds and clean room - good location, near restaurants and walking routes - had pool table, games - was a kitchen could you but we didn’t

PolandGreat common area to chill in the leaving room, play pool or other games. Nice spacious rooms, heated blankets on the bed if it’s too cold. What is more we could use all the facilities in the kitchen which if fully equipped. Nice coffee shops and small restaurants around the area. We could contact the manager any time if we needed something, they helped us with the taxi, booking the tickets for bus and so on. We also loved the backyard with an amazing view!

GermanyBathrooms are outside the room. Common areas are a bit cold. You cannot pay by card so have enough cash with you otherwise you need to go to Sapa (30 min away) to withdraw.
Desi House is located in a small village where you can find peace and nature. The host was fantastic, he booked my tours, cooked dinner for me and the other guests and made breakfast on demand (sweet and savory). Thermal blankets are a very good plus to have as it is cold.

The house is amazing. The wooden cabin feel is so nice. It’s set in a beautiful location with gorgeous views of the mountain. It’s right next to everything you need - shops, bars, restaurants @ a spa. The garden is beautiful, with the sound of water… even when not raining. It’s so peaceful. Nam, who hosted us, is my new best friend. I loved spending time with him. He was kind, helpful and cooked awesome vegan food for us. We rented a motorbike for a day and Nam gave us an excellent itinerary of places to visit. He also showed us where to hike so we could see the nearby waterfall and bamboo forest. On our last day, we needed to get some cash - there is no ATM in Ta Van and Nam kindly loaned us his bike so we could go to Sapa. Such a kind soul. We are very grateful. We didn’t want to leave but we have to travel to other parts of Vietnam. :) We hope to come back and stay again one day and see Nam. We had a double room, with a beautiful view but there are also dorm rooms.

GermanyThe house is very central in the village, next to a road. Not as remote as the pictures made me expect. Otherwise I fully recommend this accommodation. Only - it's more like a guesthouse than a homestay, as our main host wasn't there - apparently she just had a baby - congratulations:) The young staff was very friendly, but also very shy and we could only communicate via Google translator. I am a bit sad that I missed the opportunity to join a family dinner or lunch, as this was partially my reason for wanting to stay in a homestay. The walls are very thin you can hear everything in the house - especially if people play pool.
The rooms and the house are very cosy. You have some nice restaurants directly in the neighborhood. The puppy dog was adorable. I was really grateful for the water filter station and free tea and coffee. The river next to the house makes a very soothing waterfall sound:) And thank you for letting me use your fridge and stove.

VietnamI understand that hard beds are quite normal in Vietnam, but I would say the beds here are harder than most places. But you get used to it after a while.
Great location in Ta Van, close to the restaurants. Very chill atmosphere with a river close by. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend it and would gladly stay here again.

Host is very kindly, she teach me much about Ta Van village, take me go the stream, bamboo forest and eat dinner in neighbour. I really luv love village and Desi. I feel I really understand Vietnam culture and people when I stay Ta Van and Desi. Hope I can back Desi in next year

United KingdomThey had a party, it was really, really loud and hectic, right outside our room. Had to leave the property and chill in a restaurant to wait it out. They also woke up really early and were loud outside our room, so we had a bad sleep. Came to Sapa for a wholesome, relaxing, peaceful stay but was louder than a bed in a party hostel. When I mentioned this to the host his excuse was it was his day off… we were probably just unlucky, doesn’t take away from the bad experience however - worst decision booking this place.
The room was as advertised
