Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomHad such a lovely stay at Sue’s homestay! The bungalows were super cute with amazing views! The food for each meal was delicious and there was a great range of activities offered to us! We helped with the rice farming one morning with the family which was a fun experience! A few other tourists stayed here as well which made it a fun evening- would highly recommend!

Brilliant stay with Sue and her family! It was such a comfortable stay and we were very well looked after. The scenery around the home stay was breathtaking, and the food at breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious. We did two days of trekking with Sue, which was a great experience to see the beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for an authentic home stay experience in Sapa.

AustraliaSome of the cocks are noisy in the morning in the area/at night however I slept with earplugs and was fine. It can also get cold depending on the time of year so bring lots of warm clothes! However none of these are the properties fault, just good to consider!
Comfortable Homestay, many people stay here as part of an overnight hiking tour so it was great to meet new people everyday. There’s also lots to do in the area aside from walking, there’s a town centre area nearby and great to be out of Sapa town. I did a workshop with the family for batik and embroidery, which was really interesting. Also was able to buy handmade fabrics from the family, and other handicrafts! The food was also great.

United KingdomThe weather is beyond the control of the property but be prepared to bring warm clothing during winter months. There is an open fire that is pleasant to sit around but the bungalows are not heated. However, warm bedding is provided. The water was not very warm in the shower.
This is an excellent, authentic experience of the traditional way of life of Hmong people, delivered by a friendly, helpful, enthusiastic and flexible family from their home stay in the hills near Ta Van. The bungalows are comfortable and clean but not heated so warm clothes are required in the winter months. Traditional, freshly prepared meals are shared with the family and other guests in the living area. Sue is very helpful organising bespoke trekking and other day trips using her various family members who speak very good English. Overall, highly recommended

United States of AmericaCould have been a bit cleaner under the beds, we had to move one to get something that fell off and it was quite a sight. Other than that, everything was great and we had our own bathroom.
Our hostesses were fantastic, the food they served delicious, especially the rice from their field was the best I ever ate! We did the Indigo batik workshop the next day, which was quite pricy, but very entertaining and interesting to know how to do, under the guidance of hostess Sue. What I loved the most was the view from the terrace of the little bungalow we were in, with the buffalos grazing in the rice terraces and the mountains across the valley, just perfect relaxation after the busy Hanoi stay!

AustraliaHard to find. One bungalow had a broken shower holder. We also found that water leaked outside the bathroom door, so we had to use a towel to avoid slipping and injuring ourselves. The doors use a bolt lock to open and close, which made it awkward - for example, my husband would go out onto the balcony and would have to latch the door shut from the outside. If I was inside the room, I would have to signal to him to unlock the door.
The views and home cooked meals.
