Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe would have preferred a room on the ground floor as ours was out the back and up a steep set of wooden stairs! A more modern toaster is needed in the dining room and everyone makes their own toast using two very old toasters which weren't really up to the job!
The breakfast selection was superb - cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurts every morning. Followed by a selection of cooked breakfast choices and coffee and tea. The location was lovely and safe: Near enough to the V&A waterfront for all our needs but not too far to take an uber back at night time. Our room was lovely and clean and the beds very comfortable. The gardens were beautifully maintained and the pool area was lovely - if not a little cold! Roger and Heather in reception were really friendly and helpful.

South AfricaNo one came back to me about parking. My security gate was troublesome to get in and out of. The room was very hot, so I had to sleep with the door open.
Your security guard was very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable

IsraelA couple of small cockroaches which they took care of quickly. Quirky locks that I kept finding difficult to unlock. Too many keys! A bit farther than I wanted from the V&A waterfront.
Lovely large room. Great breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

United KingdomMy parents accommodation lacked a view due to overgrown trees which was a shame as this was the best part of it for us in a different lodge.
They had really thought of everything, clean, tidy, helpful - braai packages were so smart!

NetherlandsAfter arriving late at night at Cape Town Airport, our taxi driver took us to the Brenwin Guesthouse. The welcome, despite the late hour, went very smooth. The room is basic, with a nice garden. Breakfast is ok, not really special. Location is excellent! Supermarket is within short walking distance. Waterfront is also within walking distance. For us, the guesthouse was perfect for the first night in Cape Town. Our rental car was delivered at the Brenwin. Very friendly staff. I had a few questions before we arrived, and the reception answered this always quick. Thank you!

United KingdomThe room was lovely but a little small, it did not have anywhere to sit apart from on the bed. Not really a problem because the communal areas were so nice. A few tiles and the bathroom sink were cracked.
Excellent location for enjoying the Waterfront. Lovely outdoor space for smoking. Fabulous staff, from the lovely lady who checked us in to the restaurant staff who served breakfast.

United KingdomI don't know if anything could have been improved - perhaps a more sturdy door to the bathroom.
Brenwin Guest House was truly excellent - my brother and I needed a place to stay for one night between trips to other parts of the coast, and the pictures of the swimming pool really won me over. We had a twin bedroom with small kitchen/living room, which was good value for the price. The swimming pool courtyard was lovely and private, and breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. The staff were extremely gracious in letting us stay by the pool the following day until we needed to head to our next destination, and even let us keep some food bits in their office fridge. The guesthouse is also close to some really good restaurant and coffee shop options, and super close to the V&A Waterfront. Would certainly stay here again, and would recommend to others.
