Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Wonderful spacious 3-bed lodge perfect for our family. Game drives were close to a full safari experience. They kindly arranged a guide just for the 6 of us as we had small children with us (5 & 2). Food excellent including a delivery to your lodge option which was great after a tiring day. Saw nearly all bid 5 plus a cheetah.

United KingdomHairdryer had a short cord, difficult to stretch to the mirror. I requested a twin room, which when we arrived was a king bed. The numbers for the huts need to be highlighted in another colour, difficult to see, no handrails for people with difficulties with stairs
Food was good, although somethings on the printed menu were unavailable

South AfricaCan't think of a thing!
From the moment you arrive here, you are treated like royalty. The check-in is slick and informative and you are given a clear itinerary for your stay. The facilities are beautiful and the restaurant area is really stylish, which is good, because the food is totally excellent and it fits in well! We travelled with two teenagers and the staff made sure they were happy as well. The game drives were lovely and our guide (Collin) was informative and good fun. He really made the trips interesting and he had really good knowledge. We had a bush villa and it was well appointed and beautifully situated, there was a nightly turn-down service and a good choice of coffee, tea etc on hand. The booklet you get on check in with the species lists is very useful and our teens loved filling it in. An added bonus here is that you drive yourself to and from the main lodge, which gives you a chance for an extra game drive each way. We saw quite a lot just getting too and from the main lodge.

United KingdomThere wasn't aircon in our villa and there was a huge surge in heat to 40 degrees! We melted! However, I do know that many of the villas do have aircon.

United KingdomThe breakfast and dinner options could’ve been more varied or included a daily special - I imagine it would get quite repetitive after a few days. It wasn’t possible to book a treatment at the spa which was a shame. I would suggest trying to book in at least one month in advance. This isn’t a negative for the hotel necessarily but be aware that this is approximately a five hour drive from Cape Town.
We loved our two night stay at Gondwana. The game drives were great and in particular, our guide Jaym was so knowledgeable and passionate about the animals. The swimming pool is a lovely area to chill after a morning game drive - we spotted buffalo and zebra from the pool. Portion sizes were generous. We loved our room!

GermanyWonderful employees, so friendly and knowledgeable! The food was fantastic and the camps and tents in the Eco-Camp and Pioneer Trail absolutely stunning! Such a shame the Pioneer Trail is closing, it was the perfect mix between activities of hiking and game drives where we got to see all animals we had on our list including the big 5!

United KingdomLoved it all!
Amazing level of service from all staff. The guides, Corlea and Abi in particular, were incredible. Given plenty of time on the game drives to ask questions and see plenty of animals regardless of the weather. Sundowner drinks on the drive are fantastic and the accomodation and food was exceptional.

United KingdomGondwana was a brilliant family experience. On arrival we got a great relaxed feeling and introduction to the place. The scenery as you drive in to Gate 1 really is epic, with views into the distance to the mountains, through lush green valleys stretching In every direction from the main road. We saw Zebra and Impala immediately on driving in to the main gate and knew from the scale of the place that we were going to have a great time. The reception, pool and restaurant area looks out over a valley and is super, super high quality (everything from the furnishing and cutlery to the items on sale in the shop) but has a relaxed, local feel. The food is brilliant and they get that everyone is tired and getting up early, so everything comes out pretty quickly. Now to the game drives. We have to.mention our guide 'Hennie'. He was knowledgeable, a ball of energy and his passion for wildlife and conservation shone through in every drive. He was great with everyone in the small group, including our 2 kids, and made sure that each trip out was varied with a different focus on Elephant, Giraffe, Rhino, Hippo, Eland, Birds, Buffalo, Zebra and plant life.. One of the highlights, no doubt, was tracking a Cheetah for 1hr trough a valley up to a ridge where it took an Impala in full flight. A real David Attenborough moment! Accommodation wise, we were in a 3 bed fynbos villa which has a real wow factor when you walk in and feels like you are in a high end hotel located in the savannah. It's difficult to know where to choose when looking at game reserves, so we'll make it simple. Choose Gondwana!

United KingdomI would say the distance from the main lodge to our accommodation was quite far, we didn’t feel safe driving along it ourselves unfortunately. The long gaps in between the game drives were difficult to fill as we couldn’t walk around/no activities to do etc. we were also in a different lodge to what we booked, the brochure for this was also quite misleading as we were under the impression we would have a pool at the lodge, which unfortunately we didn’t.
Large spaces and comfortable beds, good shower! Stunning views from upstairs and downstairs balconies. Very good decor, consistent throughout. The game drives were obviously the best but and our guide, Heiny was amazing we all loved him! He gave us the best experience with the animals and driving across the reserve.
