My partner and I hired a car from Bologna and drove to Malcesine (you will need a car) before heading across to Venice and then down to Tuscany. Malcesine is a hidden gem, the drive down to the lake was spectacular. Our stay at Guesthouse Grandview was magical. The property is higher up and the view of the lake was absolutely breathtaking. Monika, the host of the property was super friendly and helpful with many recommendations on where to visit, eat and swim - we truly felt part of the family with the level of hospitality that was provided from all the staff including the resident dog! The room and property were kept in pristine condition and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including free parking. If you don’t feel like a drive down to the town there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance (which were amazing) otherwise a drive down to the picturesque town only takes about 15 minutes or so where there is a supermarket, as well as many shops and restaurants to explore on the lake. Highly recommend booking this property and exploring what Lake Di Garda has to offer - a must add to your Italian road trip holiday! Location of the hotel is excellent, it's very calm, but also very close to the city of Malcesine. Breakfast was delicious, there was a lot to choose from. You have a free private parking beside hotel. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Also the view from hotel was nice.
