Bergerac is a lovely place, very old and the people are lovely and friendly. A few days is ok without a car but for any longer, I would say a car is needed to get the most out of a trip there. The local taxis are good but can be expensive and Ubers basically don't exist there so don't try to order one to pick you up from the airport as we did. Literally everywhere is closed on a Sunday, which we weren't prepared for. It's not a very good place for Coeliacs, no gluten free food in any of the supermarkets we went in and restaurants weren't that helpful. We did find a lovely Indian Halal restaurant called Jardin De Kashmir, which provided delicious GF food.

Such a beautiful quaint town to visit with its architect and character, the river is stunning for a sunset and watch the swallows. I recommend a walk to the Lac De Pombonne to spot wildlife, watch the waterfalls and stop off at the cafe. Unfortunately the weekend we arrived was a local bank holiday so everything was closed, the tourist information was open one day as well as a couple bars but overall too quiet with no atmosphere. I would like to return when its busier. The tourist train and river boat tours looked popular on the day we arrived. Walk to Jean Jaures park to see the gardens, beautiful flowers, small play area and pond with fish, free toilets here too. We also took a train from Bergerac to Sarlat for a day costing about 20euro each return. Transport in and around Bergerac is very difficult and needs some attention before you go, the airport is very small and no one around to assist. Pre book bus 48 hours before or pre book a taxi as too many people waiting.

Nice old city but nothing to do shops closed Sundays and Mondays. No buses from or to the airport taxi service is next to none waited hours to get one even if you book in a advance they don't turn up. Not a relaxing experience wouldn't recommend. And it rained constantly.

The historic town of Bergerac is a great place to visit.
The historic town of Bergerac is a great place to visit. Lots of interesting architecture and local culture to explore. There is quite a big street market held once or twice a week. Plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes. A very welcoming tourist destination.

The town is beautiful.
The town is beautiful. There are many shops, and beautiful architecture everywhere you look. There are some of the finest restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. The people everywhere are very friendly and everyone seems happy. It was like walking around in a painting. It was unforgettable.

Beautiful town with lots of interesting buildings.
Beautiful town with lots of interesting buildings. Nice bars and restaurants. We found opening times of restaurants and shops unpredictable. Enough to do for a few days. Nice river trip and prebooked taxi from airport was convenient.
It is the perfect place to stay when visiting Bergerac. Located in the old town, near the river, the house is amazing, luxurious comfortable and very quaint.
The hosts are both amazing, they do their very best to make you feel welcome, they are very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive.
The room we stayed in was exceptional, we had a four poster bed that was extremely comfortable.
Breakfast was fantastic and with great local products.
This is a real treat and my husband and I feel very lucky to have stayed there.
Lovely bright and airy room in the loft space of a stunning property. Fantastic grounds and pool. The couple who run the property are friendly and happy to help in any way. The breakfasts and evening meal Laurent prepared for us were excellent and well worth the €28 per person to eat there at least one evening. The location is great, just a 10 minute drive from the center of Bergerac, I would recommend hiring a car if you're staying here, the property is surrounded by vineyards and close to a swimming lake.
Looked like a brand new apartment. Everything clean and tidy. Basic supplies for cleaning and washing provided (dish soap, dish sponge, dish towel, kitchen roll, toilet roll, soap and shampoo in bathroom). Location was excellent for accessing points of interest in Bergerac - old town, market and supermarket. Hosts were very attentive and when we advised we were short of bowls they supplied new bowls and plates and left us some treats too. Couldn't ask for more.
It is a great location. A block from the cathedral and a couple of blocks from one of the main entrances to the old town.
The bed was very comfortable as were the chairs and sofa. Lots of hot water in the shower.
Bergerac has a Wed. and a Saturday market which is right outside the front door and along the side of the building. They start setting up around 6/7am. Great windows - - we never heard a thing. Many food shops right around the corner.
Lise and her husband were so very kind and welcoming. As we didn't have a car they offered to drop us in to Bergerac to have a wander round and a meal and collected us afterwards. Bergerac is a beautiful old town. We only stayed one and were collected by our friends in the morning after having breakfast with our hosts. Fully recommend this B&B.
very well equipped and tastefully decorated. spacious and very clean.
there was a boulangerie 2minute walk and the centre of Bergerac is a 15min walk or a nice 20minute stroll along the river.
The apartment is on a busy road but the bedroom is at the back where there is a little patio area.
Excellent location. Very secure and beautifully furnished.
Our host was very attentive, answered questions quickly and collected us and dropped us back at the airport. Informative about the area and things to do. The apartment seemed well equipped though we didn't need to use anything.
Near to free parking. Separate area in room for kids. Air-con welcome in hot weather. Good pressure in shower. Quiet considering part of a hotel-bar-brasserie. Easy 5 minute walk with kids into centre of Bergerac (one street). Friendly and helpful proprietor.
The location of the Hotel is perfect for the short walk to the old town and the Dordogne River.
there was some construction of the road going on outside however this did not affect our stay.
outside space very pleasant pool area was nice.
The decoration is quite nice. The rooms are well equipped. The sofa is comfortable. It’s right in the centre of the old town with the window giving a view of the little place with the statue of Cyrano.
Plenty of bed linen and towels.
The breakfast was delicious and abundant with homemade yogart, cake and jams. The room was large with a sitting area that overlooked The garden and swimming pool. We enjoyed the amazing art collection in this beautiful old home.
Easy late checkin via box, not so big but nice and practical room with AC, free parking, boulangerie next door as good alternative to the hotel breakfast, shops and restaurant neraby.
