FAQs about hotels in Bordeaux

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.

On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

a harbourcity that has been asleep, but is now awakening and being restored, houses and streets, upcoming city. Nice walking the streets at daytime. Also recommend taking a biketour with guide. Use common sense though, not to wander around during night hours in the outskirts/suburb of Bordeaux (we were warned by locals not to walk home late nights through Capucine for example. But taking a taxi door to door is not a problem :) multicultural restaurant wise.

Very beautiful city. Old architecture (good maintained). if you are a fan of meat (cooked medium maximum) and wine, then this city is for you. there is an UNESCO village, st Emillion (short trip) where they produce good wine as well as seaside towns, Arcachon, (another short trip) to experience sea food and sea views.

Bordeaux is a beautiful, multi-cultural city full of beautiful historical buildings. It’s extremely easy to get around either on foot or on the excellent public transport system. We were there for the 14th July Fête Nationale celebrations, watched a military ceremony, fly past and parade in La Place des Quinconces where, on previous visits, we’ve also been to a large fun fair and an enormous Brocante (second-hand market). There were also firework displays over the river on the nights of the 13th and the 14th. There’s a huge variety of restaurants and snack bars to suit all tastes and budgets - we found a very good Argentinian snack bar in the old town and enjoyed empanadas and delicious tarts. The new tramline (purple A) goes direct from the airport to the City centre and only costs €1.90 a time. Other options are available for multi-day tickets but be careful - we paid around €13 for 72hr tickets and only used the trams 4 times as we walked to most places taking on the scenery and architecture.

My husband and I really enjoyed Bordeaux, especially La Cité du Vin - we spent more than a half day there and loved the interactive experiences. Most of the time, we walked over to the Place du Marché Chartrons and ate at one of the restaurants in the square. We recommend Breizh Café for their amazing crepes. We also found an amazing pizza restaurant, Les Cancres Jardin Public. The server was so friendly and the pizza was outstanding. Getting around is a bit more challenging than we expected - we're used to Paris and the metro and thought it'd be similar but with a tram. It's a lot more walking to get to and from the tram. Normally, that wouldn't be an issue, but it was so hot and humid during our stay that it made the walking a bit uncomfortable (sweaty). :) There are buses, taxis and ride shares available, as well as bicycles and e-scooter rentals.

Excellent location, very near to train station which is the reason why we booked it, as we were getting a train the next day. Staff were very friendly. They also said the reception was open 24/7 which is very helpful and is something we appreciated more as when we went to some other hotels in France they closed during the day. room was very quite, beds were very comfortable.

Very nice and friendly front desk staff! It's not a Hilton but a great economical place very near the city centre if you travel with a dog... and also without a tutu! :) The Tram stop is just there and next door you have Cite du Vin... one of the best museums in France! We could park our MC just in front of the door! :) ... and yes, very ok breakfast for its price!

Apartment clean and spacious. Plenty of everything in the kitchen and bathrooms. Responsive and accommodating hosts. Comfortable beds. Great shower. Very close to a supermarket. Baggage storage for final day was also available at a 5 star hotel in the middle of town, which was perfect for us. The perfect hub to explore Bordeaux from.
