  • La Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez

La Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez

    Chartrons, Bordeaux

A 5-star hotel located in Bordeaux, La Grande Maison is set in a 19th-century private mansion surrounded by a landscaped garden. It offers a gastronomic restaurant as well as a unique wine cellar. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed with lovely garden views. An extremely large bathroom with separate shower and toilet facilities was most enjoyable. Toiletries provided were thoughtful and generous as well as the little touches of welcome macarons and departure lemon cake with drinks for our road trip was all YUM! The staff were exceptionally helpful, considerate and professional. Dinner at the Michelin Star restaurant was phenomenal. I would recommend the hotel highly for a wonderful experience and memorable stay.

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.

On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.
