Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.
Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.
On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.
A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.
Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

It is a very attractive city with many fine buildings but there are relatively few attractions which need to be visited with the possible exception of the spectacular Son et Lumière located in the WW2 submarine dock. The art galleries are also worth a visit.

Bordeaux is a wonderful city.
Bordeaux is a wonderful city. It is historic, scenic, easy to get around with excellent public transportation. I found the people most welcoming, friendly and, helpful (vital for someone like me with rudimentary French). The city is full of young people which gives it a real 'buzz'. Great shopping and Restaurants (a special shout-out to Nai-Nai - well worth a visit). I would cheerfully move to Bordeaux to live.

Most of the city, except the area we stayed in was clean.
Most of the city, except the area we stayed in was clean. Good public transport. All restaurants had same menu, limited and not very French. Lots of pizza, burgers etc and most people seemed to eat plates of bread, cheese & ham or crepes/ galettes. Not a place for foodies apparently.

Bordeaux is a lovely city.
Bordeaux is a lovely city. It is easy to find your way around and the tram system is very good. You can get the tram from the airport right into the city centre. We did a walking tour and visited the Bassins de Lumieres, both of which were excellent. The boat tour of the river was not great. Plenty of restaurants and opportunities for shopping.

All the old doors are beautiful in Bordeaux and so many streets are only for then pedestrians. My daughter was very satisfied as well. We walked around 14 km only in the old town, from the water mirror ro the Chartron part and we visited the most places as well. In the hotel we found a mal of the town and we defined our way in the old town.
Very central location close to shops and the main sights. Easy walking to anywhere.
Building has an old world type feeling with modern amenities. It also is very conscious of environmental matters. Staff very helpful and tried their best even if some struggled to communicate in English (but hey, this is France!). Due to a late flight they very helpfully let us keep the room till mid afternoon. Thank you!
A very comfortable boutique hotel located a few metres from the main Square. Easy walking distance to many sights, cafes, restaurants, and a major tram interchange. The rooms were very well equipped, comfortable and spacious. The staff were very helpful. Also - a rarity in France - excellent showers. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
It was just what we needed for a short trip in France. We wanted s hotel near de train station, to go to Arcachon and LA Rochelle. We were two people. The room was a bit small, but enough for us. Very kind staff and a very good breakfast.
Stay City Aparthotel was very clean and comfortable for a short stay in Bordeaux. Staff at reception were friendly helpful and professional. Location was reasonable for city centre. Didn’t have breakfast here so can’t comment on that.
Very convenient hotel for our last night in France, closed to the train station, clean, and pet-friendly. The reception staff are all very nice, professional and welcoming.
