The location was very convenient since it was walking distance to restaurants, shops, museums, and river. Mardge, the owner, was very welcoming and sweet. The house was very clean.

Clean room, friendly and helpful staff. Studio suite's kitchen facilities were a nice bonus in an otherwise standard-sized 2x-queen hotel room.
A delightful town with several good restaurants. One day on Cumberland Island and another enjoying the town. And, if you want to use it for a base to see the other islands, its easy driving distance to them.
Cumberland Island is definitely worth the trip alone. I suggest Land and Legends tour and Bill is a great guide. And, even a half day walking around the south end of the island would be fun.

Saint Mary's is a picturesque town and the gateway to Cumberland Island. We were just passing through on our way back home from Miami to Raleigh area, so we really did not have much time to explore or do many things. It does look like an area we might come back to some day.

St Marys has overcome a great many set-backs that would've made ghost towns of other places. We loved living here several years ago and it is always a delight to return every few years to see how the town rediscovers its soul after storms, company shut downs and demographic shifts. It is a lovely place to spend time. There are several very good restaurants, top notch B&Bs, a grand little book store and some vintage shops, a boat launch and a guided walking tour of the town's history - all in addition the homeport for the Cumberland Island tour boats and a waterfront park just perfect for contemplating the river and the wildlife.

If you want to slow down, take in some history, and make new friends, St. Marys is the ideal place to unwind and relax.
Tips:
-Visit in the fall. It is hot and humid (and I'm from FL).
- Cumberland Island doesn't have AC anywhere and you cannot buy food or water there. There is a drinking fountain at the dock gowever.
- Most restaurants close 2 days a week, so plan accordingly. Days of operation differ.
-If you hate God and America, this isn't your town.

Like stepping back in time. Beautiful waterfront.
Like stepping back in time. Beautiful waterfront. Well lit walking in the evening.
Many family own shops ,restaurants and activities. Everyone we ran into were pleasant and friendly. Truly was a destination we plan to visit again.
As we arrived at the hotel, the front desk clerk was extremely serious and not welcoming at all, she had a sour face, not one smile. This isn’t my first time in this hotel, I like to say here because it’s clean, comfortable and affordable. I haven’t had any bad experience with the clerk, unfortunately this time this miserable lady happened to be there. That made my experience less pleasant this time.
We love this hotel have stayed here a few times
The rooms are very quaint done in an old boarding house style with super hot water for an enjoyable shower. The saloon is great friendly staff great prices and open late for late hotel arrivals who want to enjoy a drink.
We have such a great stay here. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts and picnic lunches were fantastic. This was our first time staying at a B&B, it was so much nicer and more personal than staying at a hotel. We'll definitely be back.
The Pictures do no align with reality. Its not worth the price. There are many hotels/motels near by with same or better quality much cheaper. The image online makes the hotel look much newer..The wifi randomly stops, Roaches everywhere,
This is a great hotel set in the heart of St Mary's. The views across the bay are spectacular, I sat out overy night on the porch each night which was great. Friendly staff and great food.
The breakfast was good and different hot items were offered each day. The bar attached to the hotel was nice and there was live music one night. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Location is FABULOUS. TRUE small town charm was refreshing. Beautiful park. Historic hotel, love it! Beautiful views from the upstairs community, balcony porch.
