There really aren’t enough words to express how outstanding this property is. Photos do not do the location or house justice. Additionally, the food, whisky, and service are outstanding. We were lucky to get a reservation in the first place, and luckier still to be able to be rebooked when our travel was derailed. If you are thinking about it, give yourself the pleasure of staying here.

Fabulous! We knew the property had received great reviews but we were blown away by this place! Our stay definitely exceeded our expectations. Jennie (we didn’t meet Joe) couldn’t have done enough for us. Breakfast was great & the lobster dinner was to die for! The setting is lovely, the rooms well appointed, clean, and quiet! What an incredible find. We’re so very happy we stayed at Tarrel Farmhouse and can’t wait to return!

Dennis was a great host, as were his dalmatian partners in crime! The guest house was spotlessly clean. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast options would suit all tastes, and the facilities allow everyone to have a lovely stay. The location was perfect, with a Tesco very close and the centre of town being an easy walk away. If traveling to Tain by train, the guesthouse is a 5 minute walk away. Having said this, the location is lovely and quiet, and we slept incredibly well. I highly recommend Shandwick House and will definitely stay there again.
