Accommodations in Bürglen

The apartment had everything necessary for a comfortable stay, and private parking place was a nice bonus. The large balcony made our stay really special. Although the location is a 10 minutes drive from shops, the area with the lake and mountain views was really worth it.

Great place to stay! We received clear instructions, and the self-check-in was quick and easy. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable 5-days stay, with a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful terrace overlooking the mountains. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the sun loungers. The bottle of wine and Swiss chocolate waiting for us on arrival were a lovely touch. The beautiful lake beach is only a 5-minute walk away, which was perfect. Many thanks to the hosts for their hospitality, we really enjoyed our stay!

Amazing location, mountains all around. Beautifully set next to river, farm and surrounded by peaks. Quiet, peaceful and well connected. Train station across the road for panorama express to Lucerne or interlaken. Panoramic drives round the corner. Spacious and clean apartment with everything we needed. Super comfy beds, great bath, all amenities. Lovely patio in full sun. This place is better than the photos. Really great for kids.

It was a little tricky to find where to check in and how to get into the house, but eventually we did it. :) It was a clean spacious room with a very good bathroom, nice beds. There was also a good restaurant at the Kreuz hotel nearby.

Stunning scenery, and such a helpful host !

We have passed through Sachseln on the train several times on our way down to the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. It is one of those places where we have said that we should stop sometime. Well this time we did. It is a lovely village on the Sarnersee (Lake Sarnen) with some very interesting history. We learned all about Bruder Klaus (Nicholas of Flue) and how he was instrumental in mediating peace between the 4 city and 4 forest cantons in 1481 to stabilize the core of what we now call Switzerland. Gasthaus Engel was a very nice place to stay, and is within walking distance of the train station. The rooms are small, typical of small family-owned European hotels, but certainly adequate, very clean, and include a nice breakfast. The staff is very good to work with and tolerant of my broken German (they speak English reasonably well, but are appreciative of an attempt to communicate in the local language). They have a gourmet restaurant there with inside and outside seating, and excellent food and service. The restaurant staff was very accommodating even on an evening when they were very busy. We would certainly stay and eat there again.
