Accommodation in Hagi

Cosy tatami room in a guesthouse in Hagi. It is around 2 minutes' walk to the central bus station with restaurants, bakeries and sights all easily accessible by foot or local bus. The breakfast is excellent and the staff are really hospitable and provide great recommendations.

I stayed in the dorm for five nights. The facilities were immaculate (cleaned daily) and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. The owner very kindly lended an electric bike for the duration of my stay, free of charge. Location is good, around a 10 minute walk to the centre and to Higashi-Hagi station. Towels, slippers and toiletries are provided for free. I personally liked the self check in and PIN entry system (after a couple days you end up memorising the codes so it’s not much of a hassle) and the property communicated the process effectively.

Beautiful traditional house, the host was so nice, I just felt like part of a Japanese family

Never been in a hotel like this before. And I liked it. First of all, the staff. They are all very kind. Second, the location. Great views! Funky design. And frankly, there are not many hotels in that area. So we were intrigued by the high rating on Booking.com at such a low price. And we found out the concept is actually quite cool - literally! You can eat whatever you feel like. There is a relatively small buffet of freshly prepared stuff. And then there is a virtually endless supply of frozen food, which you can microwave and/or grill on the spot. To boot, there is a huge selection of (alcoholic) drinks, free of charge too.

The owner is a superb host. Friendly and helpful. Keeps everything very orderly. The location is great at a walkable distance from downtown/nearest station. It is just across the road from a pleasant onsen which accepts day trippers. It means you can add a bit of luxury to your guest house stay. Bicycle rental and luggage storage is at the nearest station. They know Ulala and they were very flexible about extending the standard period to suit my plan.

Staying at Toru’s place in Hagi truly felt like a small dream. The house is located right next to the river, and every morning had such a peaceful atmosphere — meditating by the water while the air smelled like honey and oranges was something really special. Toru is an incredibly kind and thoughtful host, always happy to answer questions, give advice, and help in any way he can. The house itself has everything one needs, is very clean, and feels warm and welcoming. I would recommend staying here 100%. Hagi itself is also a beautiful town, surrounded by green mountains, historic houses, a peaceful atmosphere, and even a beach nearby. A perfect place to slow down and reconnect with nature and Japanese culture.

Great hospitality, gemütlich and very friendly Host.

The location is quite good and it is in a position to oversee the town. The car park is in front of the hotel and parking is easy. The hot spring is very nice and enjoyable.

Visiting Hagi was a last minute decision... so glad we did. Its a great little historic town off the usual tourist track. Rabbit is an amazing host. She met us at the station, gave us a quick tour of town, made dinner reservations for us and then settled us in to the guest house. It is a house, not just a room, and is well equipped and comfortable. Well located for seeing the town. Highly recommended.
