Excellent service from all the staff on duty daily. We having trouble understanding how the air-con controller and washing machine controller work. The hotel staff on duty personally guided us on how to use the air-con controller and washing machine. The washing machine in Japan currently updated with security feature compared to our last visit to Japan before the pandemic. Clean and sizeable room. Onsen is located at the top of the hotel, level 10, with high level view of Kashihara Nara. Front desk is located at level 9 which is a bit unconventional. The hotel room card also different for different gender, as the card is also used to access to the onsen. Centrally located in a quite Kashihara town center, with lots of F&B options at Yamato-Yagi Kintetsu local train station and nearby Kintetsu shopping mall. A little pricy thou as Kashihara is not exactly a tourist destination.

This apartment really takes me back... it's basically a repurposed 1R (one room) type of apartment, with a tiny kitchenette and a tiny unit bath, in a very old building with thin walls. Basically it's a place that would be typically rented by a poor college student or a young adult. In this case however it was turned into a hostel-like accommodation, and honestly it works well as such. The apartment had everything we needed, including the microwave, electric kettle and some dishes. The place was taken care of well. The futons even had an electric blanket, so we did not get cold during chilly nights.

Our stay at Katsuemon Gosho was an absolute highlight of our trip to Japan. Everything about it was wonderful - the hosts and their gracious hospitality, the 200 year old traditional farmhouse, the stunning courtyard garden and the general rural neighbourhood. The hosts are proud of their home and we felt privileged to stay there. They only accept one lot of guests at a time which made our stay even more special. Translate apps allowed us to communicate very effectively. We ordered a traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast the next morning and highly recommend that if you are staying that you do too. The home cooked food was outstanding and more like a feast than a dinner. We would give this property more stars if we could.

Huge old house in a little village up the hill but newly renovated with fully equipped function like staying at home. Host is really nice and warmed welcome even we arrived late. Breakfast is superb. All organic vegetables grown in village. All the dishes are home cooked. Homemade miso for soup is so delicious that we asked the host to buy some.

I spent one night in the dormitory as a solo traveller. Asato-san is really attentive and will have the best tips for your stay. The guesthouse is very clean with a very family athmosphere and some house rules to make sure the co-living works. The kitchen is well-equipped and you can rent bikes for YEN 500/day which I recommend to visit the area on a sunny day. I would definitely go back. Thank you!

The place is relatively cheap, there aren't many options at all in the area unfortunately. The owner was friendly, and there was only one couple staying there so it was quite private.

Friendly hospitality from the owner. It is highly recommend this house for stay. You will be well- experienced the traditional Japanese culture from every corner of the house.
